Jeffrey, if possible, I would love to have the ability to preview what was typed before it gets posted, in the same format as it will appear on the web page. Sorry, my terminology isn’t likely correct.

When I type a response to someone’s question, the text box is so very small, and sometimes I don’t notice formatting, punctuation, spelling errors. And, oftentimes, I just plain don’t notice how long-winded I tend to be!

Seeing the response in a preview pane with larger font size really helps catch some of that. --70.92.xxx.xxx

Busy (WI)

You could use the work-a-round like I do.

When I first sit down at the computer I open MS Word then open Mr Landlord. I minimize then both so they are on the task bar at the bottom of the screen. Not sure how to do it on a phone.

Then I click on and open Mr Landlord and read.

Before replying to almost anything I click on and open MS Word, (I guess any word processor would work) and type my response there, make my corrections, then do a control A to highlight or select everything I have typed, do a control C for copy, click on Mr Landlord, click in the box, then Control V to paste.

I tried typing this short post and couldn't read it until making corrections.

I just TOTALLY hate this keyboard. It can’t spell or type worth a nickel.

It may seem like a lot but once you have done it 3 and ½ times it is very easy.

If someone has written a post where I want to make several comments I scroll over that post with rodent (Mouse) to highlight it, do a control C to copy the text, click on MW Word, do a control V to paste the post in word and then make my reply.

Of course all this doesn’t help my grammar or command or words.

Mike, that’s a good solution, if reading on a pc. I’m usually on a tablet or phone, but, the older my eyes get.... --70.92.xxx.xxx

I had thought of using Mike's method when I have a longer and detailed response. It seems like every time I do the system doesn't like some word or phrase and kicks it out...and of course it is gone then. Extremely discouraging when you've spent a lot of time on answering someone's questions. --24.20.xxx.xxx

I feel your pain. I almost quit posting because of the same exact thing.

However:

That is the beauty of writing comments in word then transferring them to Mr Landlord. Usually within 30 seconds you can see if your post went through. If it did not go through you still have the copy in MS Word. Make changes and repost.

After your reply goes through then delete the MS Word file without saving it.

Busy, as much as I hate spelling and obvious grammar errors, I have learned to get over it. It is amazing how our head interprets a misspelled word so we know what it is. Unless it is a formal document, or something professionally written, I ignore it. (Now a newspaper article or a professional website -- it drives me crazy, no excuse)

We all know that we are typing, sometimes on virtual keyboards and hit enter before we fully reread what we wrote. No one is judging on that, and if they are, they need something else to do!

Also when you think about talking and conversation, we don't always talk in complete sentences. So I consider this more of a conversation, and again, don't worry about it. --108.4.xxx.xx

Of course the young people are completely different in worrying about punctuation and spelling. When I see " U R " "gr8" and shortcuts like that, my mind does not interpret them the way someone who has used that all their life. (young as it may be) I really have to translate that. Those things drive me crazy even in a text. Hopefully we will not be writing books that way in the future! --108.4.xxx.xx

Linda, I agree about spelling, grammar mistakes. I wish I could turn autocorrect off, as I am generally a good speller, just fat-finger it a bit. Autocorrect always thinks it knows better. Ha!

(Tried turning it autocorrect off on my phone. Only partial success.) --70.92.xxx.xxx

I had to turn off auto correct on the phone, it would send out words that I did not want and made no sense. At least if they were spelled wrong, people could figure out what it was. Fat fingers certainly is my problem, and somehow those touch screens really don't like me. --108.4.xxx.xx
