I received a letter from the IRS stating I owe $400 for filing my partnership 1065 late ($200 for each member). I know for a fact I filed before April 15 last year. While on my one hour hold with IRS (and still holding) I'm doing research on line and just learned learned that partnership 1065 due dates changed to March 15. They swaped with C Corporation Tax returns which used to be March 15 and now April 15th. What sucks more is I filed my 2018 tax return on March 23. I do my own taxes on TurboTax and you figured they would tell you to file before March 15. It appears they started this for 2016 tax returns.
Anyone else get burned?

Correction, I got off the phone with IRS this was for 2018 filed in 2019. I filed on March 23 2019 and they sent out a letter on April 15. I got lucky for 2016,2017 and filed before March 15. So a heads up to those who don't know. I'm surprised TurboTax Business didn't give me information about this date change (How often does one read tax laws). It changed a while back. 2016 sounds correct. You can still get an extension, but have to ask by Match 15 (which is what I did). --64.251.xxx.xxx |
