Replacing kitchen cabinets in a duplex I am rehabbing. Where is your favorite place to buy nice, but inexpensive kitchen cabinets other than the big box stores? --24.166.xx.xx |

If I'm buying new Bargain Outlet. Lately I've been opting for nicer cabinets that are used - Upper Arlington mom wants kitchen remodeled because she really wanted custom built cabinets blah blah blah let me score some high end cabinets (enough) to do two units. This helped me ask for and get higher rents for both units. Price? 1400.00
My point is that if you're willing to look at some different options you can save money and still get nice quality. --71.213.xxx.xxx |

If the base of the cabinets is solid or minor repairs then resurfacing kitchen cabinet doors or replacing doors maybe a viable option. Also the kitchen cabinet doors can be sanded and painted that way there is no demolition. The counter top can be replaced with quartz or back splash installed. View some videos on You Tube about kitchen cabinet resurfacing or other types of kitchen cabinet repairs. Find on and off by shopping at few different Habitat for Humanity restores often can pick up building materials, faucets along with light fixtures. What is not available at one store another store may have. Compared to the big box stores a dollar goes a lot farther there. --147.194.xxx.xx |

I have gone to lumber stores and they generally have a line of cabinets, real lumber stores, not HD. --173.61.xxx.xx |

John,
I’ve tried a few. (NO to IKEA!) One supplier took 60 days to get the whole order delivered. Son in law uses Lilly Ann flat packed cabinets- must be assembled. I tried a different flat pack manufacturer. “Just 10 minutes per cabinet” was really an HOUR per cabinet so I paid a guy for 2 whole days just to assemble. Delayed the project by those 2 days.
I use Lowes.
Sometimes cabinets arrive damaged or backordered or we need to make a change. A quick trip to Lowes solves the problem.
Their cabinets are frequently 20% off plus a 10% coupon. Always ask for the 20%. Free computer layout/ design help.

PS
Golden oak is OUT.
Dark wood or white is IN. Gray is coming on strong.

I found many cabinet makers locally to my Los Angeles market. They have the tools to make up any size, or shape. I have to put on the finish. They are made of real wood, not press board. --47.156.xx.xx |

There was a place in Santa Ana in CA. I think it was called Builders Surplus. I used to get cabinets and doors and such there at a substantial discount.
Out here our choice is Lowes, HD, or build it yourself. :)

We stick with Lowes or Home Depot, unfinished. We paint them white. Takes longer than just buying white but the finish then match-able: we can touch up easily instead of a full re-do.
We know the sizes they come in, so it's easy to lay out a kitchen on a piece of paper. --50.82.xxx.xx |

In Texas, I like Seconds & Surplus for my cupboards. Unfinished alder. I polyurethane it, and the natural wood looks good. It's not as durable as actual solid wood, but it's better than the stuff at Lowes or HD.
A 36" sink base runs $114. A 24" 4-drawer base cabinet runs $160. A 30"x30" wall cabinet runs $86. If you don't catch a sale, you can get a 10% pro discount. About 17' of lowers and 14' of uppers ran me about $1300 back in 2016. Usually, my kitchens are much smaller, and I can get them done for $400-$500'ish.
I like getting my countertops from Sutherlands.
