If a bed is put down in the basement then if there is a serious fire then insurance may not cover as it is not legal to use a basement that has not been retrofitted for people to live in. First the obvious, there’s to much they can break, or can hurt them. Then they say “to play and put a fridge down there” AKA make it the kids playroom. You are asking for trouble, kids getting hurt, to many expensive things to break. Think about it, it’s an unfinished basement correct, the kids aren’t exactly going to be down there reading books, playing UNO, and Monopoly!
