Washer Quarters Alternati

4 Family with shared coin operated washer & dryer in basement. The tenants never have quarters on them and have asked is there a way I can give them the quarters back and they give me the cash. The w & d are only 8yrs old so I'm not changing them out yet. Thoughts? (I like to keep my tenants happy).

I LOVE the laundry money as this is what we use each month to take my kids out to dinner. :)

I've seen used change machines on Ebay for $150.00 and up. There are companies that offer coin boxes that work with a ticket or debit card. However I doubt those would be cost effective for a 4 unit property.

You could get your own coin sorter & do $10.00 to sell the tenants when you're there emptying the machines.

Explain to them that once a month they can go to the bank and get ten or twenty dollars worth of quarters in a roll. I guess they just don't know that. You could stand there and hand out change.... and while you are standing there, would you mind moving the clothes from the washer to the dryer?

My father had coin laundries and the change machines were a pain. Constantly having people claiming the machine ate their dollar and wanting reimbursement. The machine constantly needing service. Smart alec kids with xerox machines trying to counterfeit bills that would fool the machine. People trying to break into the machine because they know there is money in there.

They don't have to go to a bank to buy a roll of quarters. They can buy a roll of quarters at the service desk of any grocery store or at Walmart. No need to get to the bank before it closes. Quarters are still available on the weekends. --98.146.xxx.xxx

For about 3 months I have been living at my daughter's but to not burden her with laundry I go to a laundry mat with a card reader system, one day the owner opened the card loader machine - he said he normally waits till closed to do this but he has watched me on security video for awhile and he trusts my presence when he opens the bill input drawer. The drawer area is 1/4 steel, much stronger than the 16 gauge cash box I have in bldg across from college campus, never been hit there but a couple attempts. If I had to update I think I would use the card system based on the design, the laundry mat owner said the advertisement said could not be compromised by a 9mm.

Last year i had to go to laundry matt myself! There was a learninh curve. Had to trade my Real Quarters for tokens. Abd i could not trade any unused back... cleaver of them. What about tokens? They could get them from you. Just pay extra with rent ? --99.203.xx.xxx
