Short answer: Yes, I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Education. Yes, it helps me somewhat...I learned to document copiously and stay organized. But overall nothing specific. Any other non-business degree would likely have given the same results. --173.20.xxx.xxx

Education degree doesn't seem to help but the Master's in Business gave me a lot of confidence and some good financial thinking. I was interested in group behavior related to employees and that, oddly enough, helps with understanding why tenants do some things. And, tenants are customers so treat them like that until they don't deserve it. --173.61.xxx.xx

I was suppose to go to college but my HS wouldn't send my transcript. Had an offer to go to Yankton on football scholarship but I needed my athletic stuff sent-- athletic director said I wasn't college material and wouldn't send it. That was in 68. So rather than getting drafted I enlisted in the Navy for 4 years. Went to radial engine school for planes and after finishing that went to Norfolk for 4 years working engines. Took part time work at Branton Pontiac as paint and bodyman helper. Worked large radials and then drones while working at Pontiac. My last year I worked boat and small target planes. Went to Airframe and Powerplant school in Winston Salem NC Piedmont Aerospace for 18 months and got my FAA license. Went to work for a general aviation place in Raleigh Durham NC for 6 years and was on second shift there. While working in Raleigh I went to electronic school (Smithfield Tech) at night for 18 months but had to quit when the airlines opened up. I got hired by 2-- Piedmont airlines and Delta and decided on. Worked here in Atl from 78 to 01 and took a 5 year leave of absence so i could make age 52 and retired when the 5 years were up.

My wife and I signed up for an Al Lowery seminar that came to Atlanta in April of 86. That got us going.

Joined RAND (robert allen nothing down in ATL and was one of the original members of that--group. Did not trust that bunch however. Went to all the meetings and seminars to learn what i could and then did it-- brought our first rental in 86. Was that TMI? --99.103.xxx.xxx

6 bye I Only wish I was as good a RE investor as I am a mechanic. I can fix anything mechanical. Hammer, screwdriver and pliers is all that's needed. My wife and family love to have me around. Nothing betterinthis world then tearing down a hugh engine and rebuilding it-- or a plane that was flipped over on Ocracoke isl NC-- digging it out of the sand-- fixing it right there on the beach. I made a fortune. I actually traveled world wide picking up stolen planes (especially drug planes) or insurance claims and fixing them so they were airworthy. My boss loved me to. He made a fortune tooo. --99.103.xxx.xxx

Yes, the degree gave me a good job so I could save the money to start the RE business. The degree taught me how to analyze deals in a systematic method.

Even though I could have gotten to this point without the degree, I m glad I have it.

All my kids earned college degrees that allowed them to get good jobs. As they watch my RE business grow, I think they will eventually get tired of working for "the man" and choose to invest in RE. --67.45.xxx.xx

I have a Bachelors in Bible. I then earned an Associates degree in IT and have been an IT professional for 35 years. However, what has helped in real estate has been the experience of my parents being landlords and learning from books and local REIA groups.

My education helped me earn the money to invest in real estate, but other than that it really didn't help. I think that is why real estate is such a great investment. Anybody can invest in real estate as long as they take the time to learn and are willing to take well thought out risks. --155.188.xxx.xx

6er,

Did a 5 year degree in music in 4 years.

Spent A LOT of time in a practice room - learned personal goal setting and personal discipline. No coach pushing me, just myself.

Learned that I can learn about anything with a little guidance.

Auditions: learned that only RESULTS matter. Looks and charm get you nowhere in an audition for a grade or a chair in the ensemble. In fact the judges face away from the player so they are only listening.

Learned SOME persons in authority can be mean and vindictive, holding he almighty grade. Many had lousy personal lives. Not for me!

Met Wifey there so that's a HUGE bonus!

BRAD

My siblings were academics. They settled for nothing less than a masters degree by the time they turned 22 years of age. And with a 3.9+ GPA. Then they all took "Jobs".

I was the stupid one, taking my time to complete my education all while running my first few business and owning income property. I went to three universities gaining credits towards my degree.

After my family saw how easily I purchased, maintained, managed and rented out income property, I took them on as partners. With their "hi" earnings, it was easy to get any type of loans.

I got my contracting licenses, and had college training towards engineering, designing and other related real estate areas.

Put everything together and it aided me in expanding my holdings and making better choices and becoming successful -- property rich with cash in the bank. --47.156.xx.xx
