I don't have a lot of rentals, and the only time I ever fax (at all) is with landlords and employers when I have a vacancy. I used RingCentral for years but finally cancelled because their prices went way up.
Any suggestions on a reliable service that's free or low cost? I could run out to Fedex Kinko's every time I have to do this but that's a bit of a hassle. --72.188.xxx.xxx |

The only place I have had to fax in recent years is the state or federal government. So I use a free trial for a fax service then cancel.
I used to use Myfax for years but since faxing has fallen so far off, even $10 a month is too much. PDFiller wants $19 a month (!) --50.82.xxx.xx |

Magic Jack. It's under $4.00/month paid yearly - has it's own dedicated "landline" VOIP (internet) phone number.
I cut the cord and kept my landline number with Ooma - higher priced than MagicJack. They offered a 2nd number they said would work for faxing but it's not reliable. --73.215.xxx.xx |

I use e-fax. it's either $56 or $59 a year. that is for receiving .
To send, I have a splitter on the phone line. since I don't use it a lot any longer, I keep the machine turned off when not in use so it doesn't affect the voice mail. --72.70.xxx.xxx |

J (FL) My printer has a fax built right into it. Didn't know this until about a day ago. Its an Epson WF-2630.
Yours might have this also.
I have windows 7. I would think anything newer would have this program already on your computer
Go to Start button. On my computer the little round windows symbol in lower left corner of screen (task bar I think)
Click on start button and then go up and select "All Programs"
Scroll through the programs and find "Windows fax and scan". Click on it to start having fun.
You will have to have a phone landline.
Also google "How to fax on windows 7" (or what version you have. Lots of info.

The only people who ask for a fax these days are big dog apt. buildings that I'm asking for references from. When they ask me to fax over the signed release, I pause and then say with an incredulous tone in my voice, "Fax? I didn't think anyone still used those any more. Tony: You're using Magic Jack for faxing (both sending and receiving) -- and it actually WORKS? If so, you are one of the lucky few.
Faxing simply does not work reliably over VOIP connections. I say this as a person that sells VOIP on a regular basis. It is simply not a good solution, IMO.
