Not such a good day today. Winds are sustained at 50 mph with gusts to 80. We have power lines down everywhere, and just saw a truck blow over (one of many) while driving down the interstate. Wind isn't supposed to subside for several more hours.

So far I have gotten calls on:

2 roofs

2 fences

1 lost power.

Already called fence guy and got him lined up and have a call into my handyman for the roofs. Hopefully the power is a downed pole and not mine to fix. I think I'll stay inside, I almost had to crawl across the driveway to get into the house. --50.26.xx.xxx

Crazy weather... stay safe. Colorado is having intense snow and winds as well. Skied there last week and the condo manager put my NH plow bills in perspective. I have been whining about $1,000 monthly bills and he told me 1 of the storms we had was a $7,000 storm (4K fircroif shoveling and 3k to truck all the snow out so parking lots could continue to be used. Hopefully you will have minor repairs! --166.137.xx.xx

Meanwhile in AZ we are going snowboarding tomorrow. It's always windy here, we live at the end of the Grand Canyon and the venturi effect can be considerable in the valley. I literally have nothing left that can be blown away.

Went to all wrought iron patio furniture and the tables are bolted to the patio deck or they would blow into the neighbors pool, 3 blocks away.

We are used to high wind, but this was crazy almost like a 5 hour long tornado. There were several storefronts that had the glass blown out and then the building exploded from the pressure. There were at least 30 big rigs blown on their sides along the highways, most major roads were closed because of the wind and mess.

I have one roof that was stripped of shingles on one side, fortunately, the sheathing is in tact. Needed a new roof anyway, just wasn't planning on doing it this soon. --50.26.xx.xxx

North Texas? Had two major roof damages from the windstorm a couple of weeks ago. Got them patched. Now one of the ones that just got patched has fresh damage.

Our house roof sustained damage in a storm last year. We booked the guys in October-- they got to us in January. And then we got fresh damage a couple of weeks ago in a variety of spots. We need to reroof instead of patching, because the roof was more worn than we thought. Now it got extra damage as well!

We've been in the area for 13 years, and have done rentals for 8 or 9. This is the first time we've had this kind of roughness from storm damage! The last comparable time was a major hailstorm in 2003, I'm told. We're not the only ones who have suffered from the wind damage, of course, but I do see that a lot of the damaged houses are on corner lots with west-facing roofs. --166.137.xxx.xxx

I'm in the Panhandle. I've lived here almost 35 years and this is the highest wind outside of a tornado I've seen.

Hail is pretty normal around here. In 2003 my neighbor had a hailstone penetrate the roof and come through the sheet rock and land in his kitchen floor. The stone looked like a bullet 3 inches across and about a foot long. If we ever have on of those city-wide I'm hosed. I have a $5k deductible on my SFHs. --50.26.xx.xxx

I just watched a video of an 18-wheeler truck on a TX interstate that got blown off the road - the wind picked up the trailer and the whole thing just fell over! Even if the trailer was empty, that was still amazing.

I have a rental with aluminum siding that is in a color that is no longer made. Some on the north side of the house is continually coming loose. I'm kind of waiting for the day when it blows off and gets destroyed, as I just might get the entire house resided at the insurer's expense, which happened to friends of mine. Or I can get my hubby to tack it down yet again...
