Lately I've notice more than usual off the topic postings.

So here is another one:

Anybody taking Ground Turmeric as a supplement for joint pain? Can be added to eggs, salads, soups, etc.

If yes, do you feel the results? --99.59.x.xxx

Oddly enough, I eat ground tumeric with fresh ginger and avocado several evenings a week about a year ago. I started getting blood clots in my leg due to hereditary vericose veins and wanted to take natural blood thinners. Hurts like he//, but not concerning to the doctors. (Got one during the convention last year on the flight home.)

Our local grocery store sometimes sells fresh turmeric root, that's actually not bad.

Turmeric is supposed to be the best natural blood thinner you can eat. I would imagine it would help other things as well. --50.32.xxx.xxx

From Dr. Weil:

Arthritis: Turmeric contains more than two dozen anti inflammatory compounds, including six different COX-2-inhibitors (the COX-2 enzyme promotes pain, swelling and inflammation; inhibitors selectively block that enzyme). By itself, writes Duke, curcumin – the component in turmeric most often cited for its healthful effects – is a multifaceted anti inflammatory agent, and studies of the efficacy of curcumin have demonstrated positive changes in arthritic symptoms. --76.120.xx.xx

I remember that some neuroscientists went to a part of India where they use a LOT of turmeric in food, some in most meals. Autopsy of elderly subjects showed that their brain had a yellow tint supposedly from all the turmeric. At first besides being surprised they thought it probably was not a good thing but looking at the brain tissue they found very little plaque which is found to be very high in our culture and the cause of Alzheimer's disease which is growing here at an alarming rate.

However one would have to consume a lot of turmeric in your diet. Alternatively one could take curcumin kind of the concentrated heart of turmeric. Some curminins are even more concentrated. Might have to do research on this. --66.30.xx.xxx

Wife has started incorporating it into our diets when possible. I can't say noticing a definite difference but often that is very hard to tell. My thought is it can't hurt to incorporate it and give it a try. --24.20.xxx.xxx

I took Tumeric capsules real regular a few years ago and it did help get rid of my hemorrhoids since it is an anti-inflammatory. I still take them occasionally more as a precaution than for a specific ailment. --155.188.xxx.xx
