Can you put groutable peel and stick tile directly over subway tile on the wall of a bathroom and the outside of a plastic tub? Would a deglosser or sanding be needed fod the tile/ exterior of tub to help adhesion?

CN you also apply it directly over painted surfaces on vertical walls?

Thanks! --97.34.xxx.xxx

Peel and stick tiles are not water resistant where in short time the tiles will come out. The solution is break out then install hardi board then install new tiles. For a small area it will not be expensive but once completed will last. Check out videos on You Tube about installing ceramic or porcelain tiles. --76.64.xx.xx

I don't think you would have a problem putting them on a vertical wall outside of a wet area if you can get them to adhere well at the start.

Wet areas, not so much, water will seep behind them and pop them loose. If you are looking for a cheap solution to make old tile look better I would contact one of companies that resurface tubs. They can spray a special paint that will stick to the tile and it looks pretty good. --50.26.xx.xxx

I am using FRP a lot. Fiberglass Reinforced Panels. They can be custom cut for shower tub surrounds and are now not just white. You can get colors, textures, and patterns, and they are not hard to work with. --216.23.xxx.xx

Marlite even has FRP panels that look like tile. I wish Menard's and Home Depot would start doing a better job of getting more decorative FRP, but so far all the have are white or beige and smooth or pebbled. Great for areas where you need to custom cut a waterproof surface. --216.23.xxx.xx
