Bill, you beat me to it!

RICKISH, we're a helpful group as a rule, but this is a land lord site that exists to help other land lords. I think you'll have better luck finding answers on a tenant website, or try contacting your Sec 8 housing coordinator. The rules are often interpreted by the local director, so what works in City A doesn't work in City B.

And yes, proper use of punctuation makes it easier to understand what you're asking. As a former High School English teacher, I feel obliged to help. Below is what you wrote, edited as best I can and ready to "copy and paste" on a tenant website or in an email to your Section 8 coordinator's office.

Contact the section 8 office and find out who was supposed to pay for water and electric. If they were supposed to pay for it then make them pay for it

Sid, that was very nice of you.

On another post I joked about you being my English teacher because of the big words you use.

How funny that you really are one! LOL! --73.120.xx.xxx

I may be off base, but the lack of basic language and writing skills may be at the root of the need to rely on public assistance. Unless the person is not a native English speaker, in which case I am willing to cut some slack in that area. --161.11.xxx.xxx

At almost 72 years old, I went to school under the old "regime." My teachers did not take anything off of you and were not afraid to talk to your parents.

One teacher would visit your parents at home. Didn't want that.

My mom would say, YOU USED the electric/gas/utility, NOW PAY FOR IT.

Its simple, earn the money, pay the bill, it won't take long to pay that back, even if you make min wage. And it's sure nice to have the lights on, and run the ac! --184.206.xxx.xx

I see you live in California. They have the most tenant friendly laws and the smartest judges there. There is at least one poster on here who would say that the only ethical thing to do is for the department of water and power pay you to use their electricity and water. You already have it down with the taxpayer paying your rent. I’m sure you can qualify for a free lawyer to assist you to get some justice from the man. --98.13.xx.xxx

How are the sewer/water bills tied to the power bills? It seems like there just might be a pattern occurring.

Perhaps you should ask your question to the local housing office instead of a bunch of LL. From a Landlord perspective - someone who doesn't have sewer/water or power at their home, doesn't have a home either --72.23.xxx.xx
