Where are you getting the 1099s for your Independent Contractors??

I do my own taxes (the old fashioned way)-no turbotax for me, so I'm at a loss.

How about helping me out??

You can typically either search for them (make sure you are at the "gov" site) and order them on-line OR go to the Federal building and pick them up.

Are you considered investor, or real estate professional? If my understanding is correct, investors don’t have to 1099.

I always recommend that anyone with tax questions. get a new copy of NOLO Publisher’s Every landlords Tax Deduction guide, by Stephen Fishman, jd. Easy to understand --70.92.xxx.xxx

My accountant does them, so I don't know what exactly is needed. I'm sure you could swing by a franchise tax prep office and get what you need. H&R Block or liberty tax service or some place like that. --50.107.xxx.xxx

Also - did you pay them more than $600 to one contractor? Are they incorporated? If no to the first question and/or if yes is the answer to the second question then you don't need to produce a 1099.

Staples, or whatever office supply store near you. They sell the whole kit that has the 1099s, the 1096 ( that goes to the IRS) and the instructions. It is Quickbooks compatible. --71.10.xxx.xxx

Also, the IRS has an ordering form that you send along with your contractor's 1099 form. It lets the IRS know to send you however many official 1099 forms for 2019 and each year after. Otherwise, you can order your 1099 forms online at least for next year by searching for "irs Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns" and putting the number of forms you need in the 2019 box.

Best of luck. --67.170.xxx.xxx

Save the time and energy of the paper 1099 file kits. Google 1099 file on line. Multiple vendors to choose from. You enter your data and then they file for you. You can print and mail to vendor yourself or for additional fee have the vendor print and mail. Hope you have a W9 from each vendor. --67.211.xx.xx

Mike: There are no free PRINTABLE 1099 forms available on the IRS web site. You can't just print them and mail them. You either need to buy the printable ones -- or use a 3rd party service to do them online.

You can find a COPY of the 1099 forms on the IRS site, yes, but you can't USE them for what is needed here.

I use eagleviewfiling to send out my 1099. I have been using them for the last 3-4yrs. I normally have 2-5 to send each year.

They print and mail and then efile to the irs. I think I pay $4-5 per 1099.

I have been happy with their service. --165.201.xxx.xxx
