With the discussions about the 2019 convention, I have a couple questions for the people who attended the 2018 convention (or previous conventions)::

1. What changes have you made in your business since the convention and how much money have you saved because of the changes? In other words, can you justify the time and expense of going to last yer's convention?

2. If you purchased books, CD's, or courses, which were the most beneficial? How did these improve your business?

3. Did you go to the convention to "get your batteries recharged" and stay on course?

4. Did you go to the convention to catch up with distant friends?

In my case, my purpose in attending the conventions is to "get my batteries recharged", be around like minded people, and have my business model questioned by new ideas from presenters, round tables, and fellow participants. I am slow to make changes to my business model.

I have purchased some books and CD's, but, they are not as valuable to me as the presenters and the networking.

The only program I purchased was John Hire's IRA workshop. It was very interesting, but, I have not created a SDIRA. however, I do plan on creating a SDIRA in the future.

I also enjoy catching up with people I met at previous conventions and seeing how they are doing with their business and their families,.

Thanks and see you next Memorial weekend! --67.45.xxx.xx

2018 Convention (by David [NC]) Posted on: Dec 15, 2018 2:53 AM

I bought a lot of reading / listening materials - John Hyre and John Schaub. I enjoyed listening to Jeffrey Taylor, Walter Wofford, and Ron Legrand.

You will get more info then you can implement but I think the purpose is to get you thinking that 1) you can succeed, 2) you can improve the way you are doing things, and 3) maybe what you thought you should do isn't the best way. Oh also motivate you to reach your goals (and have goals) even if you are scared, tentative, unsure, confused, etc.

I've only been able to implement the SD IRA since the convention and even that started before May. Sinple things like landlord locks have helped me. I love having 1 key to rule them all (err I mean enter all the properties).

I haven't been able to get through all the stuff I bought in May because I have been so busy actually working and implementing my plan.

The biggest benefit I see is the ability to see lots of different ways to succeed - SFH, multiplexes, storage buildings, flips, rent to own, hard money lending, etc. Then you try and figure out what works for your local area and your skill set. Maybe you only see one way of doing things and then you meet a few people and hear a few lectures and you can go off in a better direction.

So to answer you Q's

1. I can't quantify the savings. The benefits have been better management of my business and increased organization so as to decrease the time required to do things.

2. Yes - John Hyre (even though the material is dry) it is practical and because I think long term the most valuable thing will be to get property inside the Roth IRA and avoid taxes.

3. Yes - it makes you think and motivates you to be independent. You are taking charge of your life and no matter what your day job throws at you or the stock market does, you have control of your nest egg business which will make you independent (someday).

4. Not specifically but I really enjoy talking to some of the characters here on Q&A. I'm very boring and vanilla so I enjoy talking to you more interesting peeps. --65.188.xxx.xx

2018 Convention (by WMH [NC]) Posted on: Dec 15, 2018 6:15 AM

The very first convention we attended (2010? Jacksonville, anyway) was the most life-changing for us. After that, each one has built on what we learned that year.

We have definitely changed and and refined and grown our business as a direct result of the Conventions, no doubt in our minds.

The Convention has changed a little bit. The first one we attended started off with Jeffrey. Now it ends with him. So if you don't stay for the last day, or leave early to catch a flight, you miss the best part.

The other Speakers all bring something of course, but what works is different for every one of us. A speaker I might find inspiring others find boring, and vice versa. It's a wealth of different ideas.

But no one finds Jeffrey boring or uninspiring ha ha! --50.82.xxx.xx

It recharges the batteries, allows you to network and for you to pick up educational materials.

To be absolutely honest, I typically buy the materials in a pumped up mood, only to take about 60 days to go through the materials.

So I don't get the biggest bang from them as the materials are not the freshest.........what do I do to make up for it? I meet with a couple of other investors and compare the best application for the materials so we can improve our processes. --72.23.xxx.xx

MMIT,

national Convention is my "stake in the ground". I can look back and see the improvements I made after each convention.

1. Changes: 2 years ago a comment by a friend at convention led to Jeffrey making a talk , led to me having the COURAGE to raising rent and increased my income by $3467 per month. What if I had stayed home!?

2. Purchases: I pick up a kit each year. Money is made in our minds, from ideas. Education is crucial. One $99 purchase showed me a technique which yielded $157,000. I use LouBrown's course every time I purchase a new property. Profit from John Hyre's class will be paying for my next luxury car with tax free income. Been using LL Locks, OdorXit, and LegalSheild for years, met at Convention.

3. Recharge? Absolutely! LLing can be lonely and a downer so we MUST get around upbeat people or we'll become grumpy stooped over curmudgeons.

4. Friends: Absolutely! Friends from this forum, some we've met each year, from all over the country.

Any LL who considers him/herself a professional that does not come to Convention is fooling themselves.

BRAD
