Convention announcement is likely a few weeks away. Where is your preferred location?

Call me crazy but Maine has been on my list of places to visit... although it may not be the best for a convention.

I've attended only the last 3 years and my favorite has been St. Louis although Cleveland was nice (I live in Columbus, OH area). I would like to see anything that would be within a 6-8 hour drive of Columbus, OH which does cover a wide territory covering the midwest, some of the east coast, and some of the south. --155.188.xxx.xx

Dulles Airport, Virginia. Lots of new hotels over the past few years, close to DC for side trips but not as expensive as DC.

For veterans, it's Memorial Day weekend and there are lots of lovely sobering memorials in DC. My "favorite" which is a bad way to describe it is the Vietnam Wall. Also the WWII Memorial, Martin Luther King, Roosevelt, etc. --50.82.xxx.xx

I think Columbus Ohio would make an awesome place. The new Veterans Memorial just opened, COSI, the awesome Zoo are some of the attractions. There are really cool neighborhoods that are in transition that are very walkable. The convention center has a hotel attached and is right downtown with lots of nightlife. --174.105.xxx.xxx

Beautiful downtown Princeton NJ. I would say Trenton which is closer but it's too dangerous. See the museum. Tour the restored governor's mansions. Visit the battlefield. See a minor league baseball game in Trenton if it's in the spring. The Yankees trainees play there. Take a bus into NY for a play or the opera one night. There is a nice Hyatt right outside Princeton. And they you could meet me and try to bully me in person. --73.248.xxx.xxx

We've been in St.Louis x 2, Nashville x 2, also Cleveland just in the last several years. We went to Jacksonville once, that was nice, back in 2011(?) I believe the Convention was near Washington DC in 2010, time to go back! :)

I don't personally care about the attractions of the host city though as we spend our entire time huddled inside the Covention Hotel from morning till (late) night.

Ease of getting there is a big deal. The older we get, the less we like plane travel on multi-stop flights. Dulles is a nonstop flight from many major airports, even from the middle of the country like Denver.

It's a 5-hour drive for us.

There is also Baltimore. It's a SouthWest hub. --50.82.xxx.xx

I suspect that ease of getting there (and back) is a big deal for almost everyone. Unfortunately, what’s easy for some will be difficult for others.

There is a list of several cities that would be ideal for me but I trust Jeffrey to make the decision that is best for the convention and his business of serving us so I am not going to try to influence that (for now). --166.137.xxx.xx

It's great that Jeffrey is getting ideas from 2019 convention attendee.

HOWEVER?

I think Jeffrey looks at the concentration of Landlords to this site.

PLUS over the past 5 year where have the majority of Landlords come from that attended convention? If its a mix then location does not matter.

But location will have an impact on the landlords that drive, oppose to spending dollars to fly to the convention. Which this may impact landlords if they want to attend. PLUS gas is lower at this time by May it may be a different story: could go higher could go much lower. Only time will tell???

Maybe have convention in the worst location???

The pro tenant laws are over the top? WHERE?

There are major vacancies? WHERE?

In this city the overall outlook for landlords is not the best.

IF convention was held in this city, THEN as landlords maybe our problems with tenants, judges and municipalities are minor compared to Landlords in the Worst City, USA.

Now this being said in the Worst City USA is it safe to walk from the car to the hotel lobby or room or do you need a police escort and bullet proof vest. Then maybe this city is not the best option for a Landlord Convention.

OR maybe hold 2019 Convention in the best place to be a Landlord. Laws are pro Landlord? Rents are over the top? Tenants are willing to pay top dollar for units?

It's the best place to own rentals. WHERE??? and WHY???

Now Las Vegas is a great place to hold conventions however leave your deeds to your properties at home and don't bet the farm while gambling in VEGAS!!!

Chicago is central location for the country and in May sure how cold it can get in Chicago. At least its not January or February with sub zero temps.

Remember the Alamo! 2019 Convention in Southern Texas.

OR

The Southern most point in Florida, Key West!!!

OR

French Rivera no I mean the French Quarters in New Orlean!!!

What IF there were two conventions? The East Coast 2019 Convention and the West Coast Convention? Held at the same time!!! Jeffrey could be in the East Coast Friday night Saturday Breakfast then fly to West Coast Convention for Saturday night to Sunday. Jeffrey could have video conferencing for opening remarks and closing remarks or other remarks during the conventions weekend.

West Coast could be mid or northern California or Vegas?

East Coast could be some place in Virginia or North Carolina?

The 2019 Duel Coast MrLandlord Conventions.
