State Specific Question About: MASSACHUSETTS (MA)
I heard that it's illegal to have gas on gas stoves. I thought it was illegal to buy or sell them used, reinstall or overhaul them. I didn't think it was illegal to have them period. Does anyone know about this? I did find this current as of 2017.

It appears that no used gas appliance may be sold for installation in the Commonwealth, I think you could remove and sell outside the border, now some detail - this involves automatic appliances so a kitchen stove with clicker ignition is not allowed but a match lighting is OK.

I keep hearing that national grid will red tag them and they are illegal. But that never happened to me and it's not true.can't speak for mass. I sold one to a guy looking for one for his hunting camp. The other I chopped up as no one wanted to actually pick it up and carry it away. --99.203.xx.xx |

Newer gas stove have spark ignition for the burners along with a glow bar which is in series with the gas valve so if the glow bar opens the gas valve shuts down. If the gas stove is installed by certified gas technician there should be no problems. --69.79.xxx.xxx |
