Frank,your very observant,ever think of joining Scotland Yard, I think their number is WHITE HALL 555-1212you May have to put 0-1-44 in front.Yes I was in the hospital for a few days.Came home from a little shoppingThere was a car parked in front of the house on the street. I parked in front of it then backed up in order for the neighbour to access their driveway. Got out out of my car.A man came up said Don’t hit the car.I said plenty of room for three cars,And he blindsided me on the right side of my face out of nowhere? Caught me off guard.I took a dive and hit my head on the street.Blood everywhere.At the same time my neighbour came home and insisted I call the cops.They called the ambulance.Ended up in Yale New Haven Hospital for about five days.Took two Cat Scans. Will be OK.Not any worse than I was before.Met many great people in there working from all over the State.Many of Irish Hertigage Have to take them applications for the Irish Club. So maybe it worked out for the best,Didn’t think that at the time though! Glad to hear you are doing ok
It's sooo hard to use your face to block a punch. That had to hurt but hitting your head on the pavement is not good. Take time to heal. And hope there are several charged against the stupidity of the neighbor. There are ZERO reasons for him assaulting you.

Wow Charlie! I am so sorry you were injured. Was the attacker arrested? Felony assault. Older people hitting their head can be fatal. FIVE days in the hospital is NOT a minor attack. Violent criminals like that are why I began doing what I do.
Everyone needs to be "situationally aware," especially in what we call "transitional spaces" like parking areas, building entrances, gas stations. Do not allow strange people into your personal spaces in such areas.
And Charlie, I don't carry a .38. I carry a custom built Glock 19 with laser and red dot optical sight systems, match quality barrel threaded for a supressor and extended 17 rd magazine. Your basic $2,000 Glock! :)
Anyway, glad you are / will be ok. Prosecute that guy. And a .38 will work fine. Just next time don't let the bad guy get so close, and have your gun ON you. All the best wishes to you.

Glad to see you're back. Rest and recover. LTD made some great points about situational awareness. Hope recovery is swift and smooth. Years ago in Columbus Ohio the police were called for a breaking and entering. When they got to the house they found an older gentleman sitting in a lawn chair in his underwear enjoying a cigar with his gun trained on the perp who was laying in the grass with his hands behind his head scared to death. Thank you so much for having filled in the story of your absence, and I am so sorry about what happened. I am very grateful that you are so resiliant and hard-headed enough to have survived. Too bad he wasn't arrested. Florida has a law that if you assault someone over 65, you penalty is doubled, or something like that. A punk, freshly released from jail, punched an elderly guy and stole his car. He then ditched that car, invaded my elderly parents' house and demanded their car keys. Dad made a move toward the drawer with his gun, and the punk decked him, breaking his nose in the process. He then pushed mom to the floor, grabbed her purse, and stole the car.
He was caught later that night a few counties south. My contact info was in Mom's purse, so the sheriff called me (they weren't answering the phone, as they stayed at a neighbors' place). When I told the sheriff about the incident, he told me about the first man assaulted and said, "Trust me, this guy will be locked up until HE'S a senior citizen!"
