I have 3 unopened boxes of Allure that have sat in an unheated garage since 2016. The low temps inside this garage never go below 40 degrees. I now need 3 boxes of Allure for a small room and I am wondering if what I have is usable. Is there any way to tell if my left-over stock is any good or not? --68.63.xxx.xxx

Roy, take two pieces out, let them come up to room temp (about 3-4 hours for open box with pieces separate), then put them together. Let them sit for a couple of days. If they stick...all is good! Take them apart using a hair dryer or heat gun and happy floor laying! --173.20.xxx.xxx

I'm trying not to store stuff. Returning asap. And I'm working hard at using up what i have stored. It's a process. Hope the flooring works out. Let us know as i have a few boxes stored myself... waiting for their assignment --99.203.xx.xx

Plenty,

What I have stored is left-over boxes from previous floors jobs. I have only 3 boxes and all are my standard Oak color but none have the same 'lot number' which I hope is not a big deal. Plus, I will need to buy two additional boxes to complete the kitchen floor job that is coming in about a week. I will be mixing 2 year old Allure with new Allure. I hope this is not a disaster waiting to happen.

Sid - I will be testing out what I got this weekend. Thanks for the tip. --68.63.xxx.xxx

If they have never been frozen AND the boxes are sealed so dust cannot get to them, they are likely good to go.

I too am returning leftovers instead of storing. If I have a partial box, I try to store it in the unit it goes with. It has to be sealed in a trash bag and inside the conditioned space. Usually in a hall closet on the top shelf, or on the top back shelf in the kitchen. Not in the attic or under the house! --98.122.x.xx

If you are using different lots, be sure to mix them up to be more random where they are put in the floor. If you go through one box then another, it might be noticeable. If there is a plank here from one box next another box all through the floor, you will just think they are made that way. --108.4.xxx.xx

I store ceramic/porcelain tiles - they are not affected by temps.

Other flooring material left overs such as laminate go to the trash, full packages back to the store. Allure - I've never used it.

The thing is, trying to match stored materials with new materials rarely works well. Even with the same item numbers, there are size and color variations. One exception: properly stored roof shingles, felt (but not lap tar) - I only use popular colors from a single mfg - old shingles blend with new with no problems, and on a hot day, they're easy to cut. --99.59.x.xxx

I've stored it in my basement for a year and not had an issue. I've not stored it for longer than a year I don't believe. It was fine at a year. --131.151.xx.xx

For something three years old, I'm gonna throw it out. It would be cheaper to spend 75 bucks for three new boxes then it would to lay the old stuff and then have to pull it back up and then spend $75 for three new boxes. --174.201.xx.xxx

I had to take allure up once because of a water leak. When I put it back down again I put a small bead of 100% silicone caulk down and have not had any issue with it. If your allure doesn't want to stick, I would do the same thing. Put a small bead of silicone down and it will stick. --68.38.xx.xx

Pretty easy, if the glue is sticky should be fine, storing this stuff unless you flip houses monthly is crazy, let the store be your storage shed. --71.49.xxx.xx
