I'm curious...how did she figure buying a house exempted her, or was it the usual illogical "but I'm DIFFERENT and I don't wanna pay!" tactic?
Awesome collecting the ELT! My tenants have been remarkably stable this year. Not a single ELT yet. So, while that's good for my occupancy and rent collection rate, it's not so good for bonus days! ;-) Works either way for me. --173.20.xxx.xxx |

Brad
Along the lines of being exempt.
One of my tenants told me he was a CARD CARRING INDIAN (American) therefor wherever he was it was federal land and so the city ordinances, rules etc. didn’t apply to him.
A couple days later the city cop went down to the place (I went along to give permission to be on the land) and wrote this guy 15 city ordinance violations.
I wonder if he can use his card(S) to play poker while waiting in the gray bar hotel?

Mike SWMO that sounds like a variation on the "sovereign citizen" BS. Maybe that's where he got the idea to try that? --72.188.xxx.xxx |

Wow.
I encourage my new graduates to ask for it in their starting salary packages from their employers. :) I had one who got a job with the Kroger Companies when they graduated. They had been working at our local store in an hourly position, and when they graduated from the university got a corporate job. They got Kroger to pay their various fees to cancel contracts.
I have one graduating in December. I had offered a December ending lease back in February/March at a higher rate, but the student wasn't positive he would graduate and move, so elected to sign the year lease with the early lease buy out fee. He has given me official notice that at the end of December he is graduating and I encouraged him to speak with his corporate recruiter about his early lease buy out as part of his starting package. Otherwise, I'm sure his mother will be paying it. College student though. You kind of expect Mom to help pay. She was part of the email thread when they discussed the shorter lease vs the full year lease. --131.151.xx.xx |
