Hello,
I have an applicant that has had 8 criminal cases against him. They've all been settled/discharged. The most recent was in 2015 for battery. The county criminal web site doesn't specify if he was convicted (only charged). He claimed in the app that he's never been convicted of a crime. He's a bail bondsman and we are really skeptical about this guy.
I can use his low credit score to deny him the house however, I'm wondering what you all would do in this case. Thanks in advance. --104.48.xxx.x |

Pass. He'll be trying to assault you when you evict him for cause. --209.122.xx.xxx |

Funny you should post today; we had a fellow call yesterday, wanting to know if a felony conviction would keep him from getting a rental from us. We told him he would have to fill out an application and we would take a look at it.
Looked him up and found he has a long list of criminal behavior. Receiving stolen goods, drugs, battery, neglect of a dependent, along with an outstanding judgement. If he bothers to send in an application, there is no way we would rent to him, and all we have to do is point to our policy that we don't rent to those with outstanding judgements. Dodge a bullet and don't take him.

Do bail bondsmen go out and get the people who they agreed to bail out? I wonder if his charges are from going out and capturing people who skipped their trail and lost the bail money. Or I wonder if the criminals he deals with attacked him on occasion. No mater what, you don't need this drama in your unit. --73.178.xxx.xx |

One time I had a woman applicant who said she was a car repossess agent for banks and insurance companies.
I asked: so you steal cars?
She said: yeah, at 2 am.
I said: where?
She said: All over the west, as far as El Paso.
I said: What about your personal safety?
She said: I pay for off duty police coverage anyplace I go to.
Her application looked good, checked good and she moved in. A year later she got a bf and everything went downhill from there. They finally moved out before I could evict them for non payment of rent. --99.59.x.xxx |

I often hear " just give me a chance". Nope. Sorry. I have given many with records and other issues a chance. last one gave my house ( and a neighbors house) a bullet hole in the siding. We have become a lot more serious about rejecting criminals from renting from us. --24.233.xxx.xx |

So we rejected this guy with the criminal record based on his credit score (602) and he was so desperate after explaining the nasty divorce he went through (maybe explains one of the battery charges?) he offered to pay $100 more a month. We didn't budge though... had to block him from our phone. --104.48.xxx.x |
