We're putting a metal roof on a cabin. The exterior is weathered grey, like barn siding. What color roof do you think would look sharp? Thank you for your input..!!

Do you want it to pop, or do you want it to blend?

Is it isolated, or is it surrounded by other houses?

Red metal roofs look very snazzy, if you want it to be eye-catching.

Green metal roofs can be very attractive, but work better in a rural environment-- not so well in a neighborhood.

Your grays/gray-browns are going to be very neutral, and will look tidy, but the roof will be pretty much invisible. --96.46.xxx.xx

Back where I hale from, we used metal roofs on the houses for the animals,not dwelling houses for people

My husband installed metal roofs for many years in his business. He likes a lighter colored roof to reduce heat on the building. Like cream or beige, for example. Some of the newer metals are energy efficient with any color but it's something to consider. --199.47.xx.xx

Regardless of the color, be sure to get snow brakes installed over the doors. When snow slides off a metal roof (often after slamming a door), it comes off in one giant avalanche. You don't want anyone hurt. --98.146.xxx.xxx

I'd probably go with red or green. You could spray some paint on the old roof to get an idea.

Here is the desert, white is preferred. Makes a huge difference in summer heat reflection. I've seen 50-60 degree surface temperature differences. But probably would't look right in a forested area.

The beautiful colors fade. I love the blue, but it starts looking tired. Local businesses with blue metal roofs have painters up there painting the roof every couple of years.

Red fades to pink.

The white gets so it looks dirty.

Gray seems to hold up, or at least still looks fine when it ages. My shop was a color called sea foam, a sort of off white and that aged well, as did the gray roof. --174.216.x.xxx
