Not sure how many states these guys operating in or if this well known scam and I am late to the party, but when Googling, Hawaii came up as reporting it. I received 5 notices in the mail yesterday from "Workplace Compliance Services" looking all sorts of official to complete my "Annual Periodic Reports" to the state for LLCs citing penalties and fines for filing late. ($85 a piece!) "Good Lord that's gone up!" I thought. Grumble Grumble. I kept looking at these "official" looking forms citing all the state revised statutes etc and then realized it is complete BS. Essentially the state fee IS still $10 and they are charging $75 Processing fee! WOW. AND of course it is a couple months before my filing is actually due b/c then I will get my REAL reminder to pay the Secretary of State Colorado. Just a heads up.... that was close. --172.58.xx.xx

Around here they are sending forms to extend a car's warranty. They basically say that your warranty is up and to avoid high repair fees, sign and send x dollar. They never mention any details about the type of car or age. Then they start calling on the phone using a local number. Say I was wondering how many campaign donations will be requested through the voter lists that the Russkies accessed? Donate only when you access the website of the candidate. --73.178.xxx.xx

Interesting Ally! And yes, using local numbers and addresses certainly contributes to eliciting consumer trust. Tricky! Consumer compliance is doing the same, here providing local Denver address, etc... And its not just a PO Box. --208.123.xxx.xx

If there's a self addressed envelope it's an invitation to suff as much junk mail as I can (mine, someone else's it's all good) and mail it back less the original ad or scam. Helps me get rid of junk mail and makes me feel good that it won't be filling up my local landfill. ;-) --71.213.xxx.xx

For those who have a fireplace at home junk mail is a good thing, it can be rolled up and tied with twine, stacked in the log holder and does not carry bugs into the house, lights easily and when mixed with lumber wood can last as long as a nfl game. --76.188.xxx.xx
