Does anyone else use this as a go to paint for their rentals? Is it still considered "in" or is it on the outs now?

I am using plain white satin or eggshell but in the past have used Cameo White and Navajo White. But I get them at the True Value store mixed to those Benjy Moore colors. The Benjy Moore paint never held up. I used it for ten years and it would sort of vaporize off the walls and the white turned yellow. So I switched on day and the True Value paint holds up like iron. You are all making a mistake with the grays. It's depressing. It might be good now if the tenant population you are getting is depressed as it will make them feel at home but over the long run they will hate it and want to repaint or they will just not know what is making them feel bad and they will leave. People choose colors according to their personal emotional state or their personal emotional traits. State is temporary and traits are long ter. Look up the Luscher Color Test. The Cameo White has a bit of yellow. People who seek change will choose yellow as their favorite color. I recommend it. --73.178.xxx.xx |

I am trying to standardize my rental colors. Wife likes to decorate so I have one oddball property with decorator colors.

My concern is that the grays will go out of style...and as Ally said it can be depressing. A gray kitchen?

Navajo White and Kilm Beige are out of style at this point.
Some whites makes it look very much a hospital white or too sterile of a white.
HOWEVER,
Your walls get dirty and after a few years its time to paint the entire unit. Especially if you use a flat paint.
Yes some of the walls have a yellow tone to them they do not look fresh.
The Greige color is a gray/ beige tone. If you look at some of the greige colors they have a pink or purple tone to them.
Go to SW and check out the colors that are popular at this time. Ask them the top color choices are now. Its possible in 5 years a new color will be more popular. And if you have that crystal ball and can tell the next color trend then you are going to make a lot of money in the interior decorating biz.
I think the color of the year is a red for Benjamin Moore. That would be a little much to paint an entire house interior red walls.
The trend in new construction is to paint the walls and ceiling the same color. Thats with 9 to 10 foot or higher ceilings. An 8' ceiling or lower you want to use an off white on the ceiling.
The top color choices on Zillow are beige and gray color. Thats why the greige is a popular color.
If you have a beige tone in your floor tile then the Greige color would be a nice color choice. Using a true dark or medium gray with beige floor tile does not look to nice.

For what it’s worth, my 33-year-old daughter just bought a house that was built in 1965. The walls are all painted Navajo white. She was looking for a light gray color and couldn’t find any that look right so I told her about the repose Gray color that is mentioned often on this site. Agreeable and Repose were okay but they won't work with my floors and this house gets little natural light so I'm afraid to go with any type of darkish paint. I really think the grays look better with laminate or wood or Allure floors than tile, from the photos I've seen online.
I've decided to go with Dover White for the walls and either Extra White or High Reflective White for the trim.

My whites are bm colors. Simply white is a flat looking clean white and atrium white is bright but not ultra white. Navajo looks like it's dirty. Decorator white is Also popular.
I've been using Glidden ceiling white recently and like it. Though it is on the Grey side of white.
Ally what line of bm do you use? I'm a regal fan and undercoat w ultraspec. Painted my moms in college 30 years ago and it's just starting to peel.
BTW if you want an excellent ceiling paint try bm waterborne line
I did repose Grey and ultra white trim in a unit and it definitely elevated the appeal
