I didn't realize how much work it is being retired.

I got up yesterday at 10 am, rolled over and slept till noon. Got up again and went to lunch at the local mover and shaker restaurant. But no movers or shakers were there, just an old retired has been. Drove by a couple of possible flips (but no way).

Sorted some stuff for a future garage sale. Had some phone calls. Did laps around Walmart since it's like 190 degrees outside in the shade and went by the phone store, which has been overcharging me for like two years and I just discovered it. Then dropped my truck off for an oil change and got the other truck filled with gas. By then it was time to get changed for swimming.

Exciting stuff. I was exhausted. This being "retired" is a LOT of work! I don't think it's going to last long. :) :)

It took you having to retire before you had time to look at your phone bill? You probably could have retired two years earlier (: --50.45.xxx.xx

I agree with you, retirement really is hard work! I've been retired 11 years now and I just don't know how I ever had time to work. I don't really know what it is I do all day, but I'm bizzy doing it! My son always says to me, mom, what the H do you do all day....after the hair on the back of my neck settles down, I just tell him I'm bizzy and get out my phone and show him all of my appointments... that's the end of that conversation! He doesn't ask me anymore! I should tell him that I'm bizzy spending his inheritance, that would shut him up really fast!!

Have fun in your retirement, you deserve it! --75.174.xxx.xxx

The only laps I'd do around Walmark is in the car, even though petrol is around $3.00 a gallon, the only consolation is that it's £8.00 a gallon in London.....

I thought for sure you'd do some community volunteering. You know give back to the community. Give a free class so the younger kids learn some useful life skills. Self defense 101: When to shoot and how to find the best places in the desert. Shovel techniques. Just how deepdo I need to dig. You know... useful skills. ;) --174.233.xxx.xx

It is amazing how easily you can adapt to this lifestyle though. And you can just pick up and take off whenever the opportunity arises. There will come some projects, but they won't be as big and time consuming which is also good. Keep in touch with friends and family. Sometimes that takes some work to make lunch dates or help dates, but it is rewarding to be available for those. I know this is what I worked so hard for during the early years and I am enjoying it. --108.44.xx.xxx

Work expands to fill the time in which we have to do it in. No I didn't make that up. I forget whose quote it is. I am "working" by selling my stuff online and filling out lottery tickets. It's not random and I am "learning" it. --73.178.xxx.xx

LTD,

I hear you. I retired last month from the day job, just now getting my feet under me. Clearly, I haven't figured this out yet, I've been working on a flip full-time since I retired. I'll have to learn a few lessons from you on how this is supposed to work. --50.26.xx.xxx

LOL Mickey - actually I've sat on various volunteer city boards and commissions for about 8 years. It's one of the things I've retired from. And for about 3 we've done free seminars at the survival store. We did actually do one on "101 uses for Duct Tape." LOL --47.216.xx.xxx
