We have several judgments on ex-tenants. We would like to verify employment from where we think the tenant may work before filing the garnishment. Most of the time employers won't give information over the phone. What is the best way to verify employment for a garnishment before spending the court fee just to find out they don't work there anymore.

call the employer but don't ask to verify employment,just ask if Tom Jones is there,they will say no body by that name works here or hold on I will go get him.Also try facebook,might have his place of employment on his facebook page --72.231.xxx.xxx |

We search Facebook, google, and a myriad of other online searches but a lot of time those are not totally accurate and/or up to date. Calling the employer works sometimes on smaller companies but doesn't work on larger companies. The one I'm working on now is a hospital with over 3,000 employees so calling the switchboard without knowing a department doesn't work either. Most big company HR departments won't release any information over the phone. I'm thinking about mailing a request with a copy the court order to the HR department. You should be able to check HR and just say, I'm landlord and I need to verify whether John Doe is an employee there. Done. Best bet is to do skip trace on them or turn over judgments for someone else to do running around. --32.211.xxx.xxx |
