OK I saw the post about the Simple safe system and this is NOT to replace that BUT for someone it might help for a special purpose,..IE.to protect tools or building materials short term.Ect.

I posted this on another site about keeping Otters off of a guys dock that were leaving a mess,..people were posting ,.shoot them etc, I thought this might be more humane,..

You could get a security light,..they have gotten pretty cheap these days, mount in on a short pole.....note if you have it on "TEST" it works in the day time for anything that breaks in its "eye" that gives off heat,..most can be set for just a half minute,...in one of the sockets plug in a screw adapter that you can then use it as an outlet,..then plug in anything noisy,..a 5 dollar vacuum cleaner from a tag sale,..and old power drill,..maybe a radio,..

Spencer gifts used to have a cheap strobe lite that was very bright,..it could be plugged in on the other side of the security light if needed,.. I did a similar thing from someone that kept breaking into my tool shed,(used a radio set on a 24 hour station )and a bright light,..plugged into a lead cord that had the light and radio in opposite directions and pretty far from the security light,....it seemed to stop those break ins,..that is, I saw an attempt,..but nothing was taken and I think they fled pretty fast,.. ,..amazing how startling that is on a quiet night,..(I know because I once forgot it was on when I first set it up and when I went out one night to retrieve something.) Scared the heck outta me.

Otters? Wow. I would respect them as they are very cute. I have woodchucks and some of them come up to me and look up at me to give them a peanut. They are like large squirrels. To keep the woodchucks out of areas where I don't want them, I employ some dog product. That is a small bag of poo here and there. It's free and I replace it easily as needed. --73.178.xxx.xx

Hollis,

Good idea!

At my brother's lake home the geese were making an awful mess of slimy poo. He installed 2 motion activated sprinklers. Humane and actually funny to watch. The geese simply got an annoying shot of water and moved on. The kids had fun playing in sprinklers.

ER,.. just be sure to tell the wife or whoever needs to occasionally go in esp at night what you have done,...

My wife who almost NEVER goes into the tool shed,..decided after I went to bed she needed a screwdriver for something and found where I hung the key,..

She was NOT happy and woke me up to let me know that she thought she was going to have a heart attack and I better go out there to get the screwdriver and close it backup as she left the door wide open,..so I guess it works on scaring wives away anyway. --66.30.xx.xxx

Without giving away our security measures, we use lights a lot as well as outside alarms. At the office we have a loudspeaker on a motion detector that screams a recorded message at people if they should be stupid enough to climb over our perimeter fence. And there's another surprise for them before they even get around to trying to break in.

Strobes are great - anything that draws attention will cut out most attacks. --47.216.xx.xxx
