What are you paying for trash clean up and hauling after a move out?

I have been hauling it myself, but wanted to hire it out. The 1,000sqft house with 2 car garage I am doing now has a couple couches, some TVs, a couple dressers, a mattress and box spring, and a bunch of junk in the garage. Probably 7 or 8 pick up truck loads.

I would suggest a dumpster,a pickup up load level full is about 2 yards so probably a 20 yarder would do it because everyone estimates low, check pricing because I can get a 30 yarder for only $10 more and I pay $230 for a 30 yard dumpster plus $80 ton, probably end up being cheaper than hiring someone with a truck taking 8 trips to the dump. Then pay a couple guys $15 hour x 4 hours each for $120 to fill it up --72.231.xxx.xxx

Have you tried putting by the street for a couple days first? After the neighbors pick through it, you may have a lot less to move.

School is out for the summer. Any hard-working high-schoolers who want to earn a buck? They can fill a dumpster. --68.10.xxx.xxx

If there's anything valuable - do a quid pro quo... take it all deal....I've given away scrap metal or a dead condenser to get someone to take garbage and they smiled all the way.... my guess: as classiness of the worker goes up, so will the price --173.24.xxx.xxx

Around here the price is directly proportional to the number of teeth they have. --166.137.xxx.xx

Kyle,

I pay $50 labor for light trash out and $100 for heavy like yours.

Then $35 per trip to the dump which is an hour round trip. Trasher must have a pickup AND a trailer.

We just did one like you describe and it was easier to park a roll off. Haul & dump bill was $230.

Consider the time lost in transit that could be working on the house. To help with the labor shortage we keep a dumpster off the alley of a house we ise for storage and use it for small loads. Helpers like being able to get rid of their trash before going home. We dump it about every other month for $200. So for $100 a month I seldom send anyone to the dump and keep workers on the job afew more hours per weknrather than driving to the dump.

Happy Dumping!

And when you use the dumpster, be sure to walk the trash in, break up pieces and pack it full. Just dumping over the side leaves lots of wasted space. The stuff that someone might want to pick, old chairs etc, just leave next to the dumpster over night. --108.44.xx.xxx

I have a guy I use that has a flat bed truck with side walls. I'd say it can hold 10-12yards. He charges me $175 a load.

He comes and estimates the # of loads and that's that. He's cheaper than a dumpster with labor.

I also have 2 dumpsters at buildings that come in handy. --74.37.xx.xx

PS That's a full size rolloff we keep around.

I worked a deal with the Rumpke rep. They will pick it up, empty it, (normal fees) and deliver it to a different project for only $25 delivery fee.

So when we're doing a few projects for $25 we can have a 30-40 yd rolloff right there, moved daily if needed.

I have started using dumpsters pickups are very inefficient, also our city transfer station now charges $.05 cents a pound or $100 a ton.

My friend has a dumpster company I pay $150 for the can plus $80 a ton for tipping. Its a far better deal.

Labor varies it depends on how bad it is.

First, I call the local 'scraper dude'. He takes all the metal stuff away for free (including gross appliances, old a/c units, etc). If he likes any of the other stuff, I let him take it also. Then, I buy the 'bagster' from home depot $ 38.00. I pay the neighbor kids $ 50.00 to put the carp in the bagster. I call Solid Waste Management for a next day pick up. $ 140.00 Total cost to rid the home of 'prized' pickings .. $ 228.00. And Sam (the scraper dude) always ends up giving me stuff later on that he knows I'll use, like new pedestal sinks, etc. This of course works in Broward County Florida; hope it helps in other areas. --107.202.xxx.xxx
