I don't care if they have 2 cars. I expect at least 2 cars per unit anyway. I don't care whose name it is registered in.

Is there a reason why you expect your tenants to not have multiple cars? It's pretty normal, especially in TX, where pretty much all of our cities have been built for a vehicular culture, rather than a pedestrian culture.

What’s the problem with them having more than one car? My wife and I have 8. All tagged and insured. Frankly, I would be concerned if tenants could only afford one car. If you will have them list tag numbers on your application, this will open a huge background search door. Use The site Public Data to look them up. Not that you can ever really predict what a tenant will do, but I would guess that if they are sneaking in a roommate, not putting them on the application, then they won't put the extra car on the application, either.
But, you should be able to go to the DMV and find out who owns the car.
Or, ask to see the insurance certificate that everyone is required to keep in the car. That would have the owner's name on it. --174.216.x.xx |
