I trying to find a contractor to deal with the installation of a small length of gutter along with covering some exposed wood on a few windows with some aluminum. Is it common that folks who install gutters work with installation of aluminum as well? Are the same machines used to cut both?

Gutter or siding crews are your best bet. Since its a small job and the trades are busy, it may take a few calls. I'd start w the local supply house. Different machines are used to cut gutters and bend metals. --174.234.xxx.xxx |

Most gutter guys have a crimping machine mounted in a trailer. The gutter material comes on a large roll and is fed through the crimping press and made on site.
Some do metal bending and fascia work, but it's usually a different job. --174.201.xx.xxx |

I have bought a metal break for aluminum flashing and I have a handyman who does both the guttering and the flashing. I get my aluminum gutters from Menards. I have reguttered about 5 houses over past several years, so it was worth my while. I really feel it's important to get water away from foundations. --216.23.xxx.xx |

This probably varies some by geography but here most contractors who advertise siding and gutters either do siding and sub out the gutters or do neither and sub out both. So the person doing the actual work usually only does one or the other in my area but there are some exceptions. --166.137.xxx.xx |

There are gutter guys who don't own a siding break which is the machine that bends metal to shape. You need someone with a break/brake not sure of spelling, to form the flat metal coil to the shape of a window piece. --73.178.xxx.xx |
