I have a SFH, good rental history. I am looking to sell in two years. It needs a new driveway. I am looking to replace it with pavers as I think it will look better and may sell faster. Does anyone think the cost of pavers is worth the expense or stick with the standard driveway? thanks again --99.166.xxx.xx

Depends on the neighborhood and condition of the house. If both are top end and you haven't stuck a bunch of other money in it, maybe do it. If not, leave it. --50.107.xxx.xxx

This may be regional but pavers for a driveway would be a bust here. Decorative concrete would be an upgrade vs a troweled and broom finished concrete driveway here. --70.178.x.xx

They seem to break down around the edges and sink into the earth. You get a lot of rain there and have sink holes so your land is unstable. I would probably go for asphalt unless it's too hot there and it melts too much. It would probably look nice but if the buyer has sense, he or she will not want pavers. --73.178.xxx.xx

For driveways, concrete is the #1 choice, and not by accident. --99.59.x.xxx

I go for stamped rubber mold finish over concrete to give the look of pavers. --47.156.xx.xx

As a Realtor my advice is to go with concrete. You can have it stamped to give the appearance of pavers but only if it is a high end property. A driveway in poor condition could be a detriment when selling but over improving (stamping) a driveway is an expense you will not recoup. Spend your money where it matters most such as kitchens and bathrooms which will generate the highest ROI. --71.75.xx.xx

It would be best to look at similar homes, talk to real estate agents and learn what your local market dictates.

For longterm durability, I think concrete is preferable. Most installers of pavers dont do a proper job and the stones shift and settle.

But many people buy the "bling". --65.94.xxx.xx

We had bad experience with pavers...they shifted and settled - to the extent that they had to be reset - still not perfect. Had we known, would have gone with stamped concrete at the start. --73.158.xxx.xxx
