As no surprise that the evicted tenants did not have forwarding address. But, they told the postman that they were moving out, and did not tell the postman because they evicted for not paying the rent.

I sent the registered letter for the deduction of the statement, on 5/17, its alert, indicated deliverable, then on 5/25, it indicated an individual signed it and in a different zip code.

But, the post office refused to give me their forwarding address. But, an attorney said for $250.00, he can get the forwarding address, just ask for the service address. How does it work?

Now, I would like to know how to get the unpaid rent back? I wonder how other landlord accepted their application without knowing the truth?

Please share with your tips how to get the unpaid rent back. Both of them are working (I assumed.)

Thanks.

Alice, I had to dig --> You need to TYPE "Return Service Requested" above the delivery address on the envelope you mail to their old address. USPS will return the envelope to you if the tenant filed a change of address with them. The new address will be printed on the envelope for you. This is all done automatically without the letter ever actually going out for delivery. If there is not a forwarding address on file, USPS will attempt to deliver the letter and it will either be returned to you as undeliverable, or will be delivered to the old address.

The envelope you send must be addressed to only one person and must be addressed to their name (not occupant, etc.). Make sure your correct return address is on the envelope so it gets back to you. Send it first class (just a regular stamp) there is no additional charge for this service. I have used this successfully multiple times in the past few months. --76.188.xxx.xx

Vee, thank you so much for that updated information. The USPS never informs the public of their revised policies and procedures until the public encounters a specific situation, such as this. --99.203.xxx.xx
