Had my first burglary today. They took the furnace, water heater, and some more materials. Kicked in the side door.

Is anyone using Simplisafe? How does it work for contractors? Do they each get a different code? I think my former contractor may have been the thief, so I want to be able to track who disables the alarm if I can. What sensor combination do you recommend?

I though ThinkRealty (formerly Community Buying Group) had a discount for Simplisafe, but I don't see it listed on the website. Is there a group discount available somewhere?

Furnace and hot water heater are too much work for scrap metal, your former contractor would definitely be a suspect --72.95.xxx.xx

Had a contractor doing some tile removal in my basement. He started bringing in tool cases for tools he wasn't using. Then I realized something had disappeared and I remarked to him that I couldn't find such and such and that I knew it had been there so could he find it for me. Next day back comes the big tool case, and my item was "found". I wonder what else he got. I had some antique epaulets that are missing. --73.178.xxx.xx

Anyway simple safe is a breeze to get running if you do not use the wireless building add-on (mine is 2500 feet just on the fringe and often falls out of the system), setup to call 3 cellphones, add 2 motion detectors (wireless but place in secret locations) not on the delay so someone running in gets nabbed if they dont know the code/s, easy to change codes in person about 10 minutes. --76.188.xxx.xx

Kyle,

Bummer. Contractor is first suspect. Check his truck and garage.

Refurbished from Amazon was as good a price.

Motion detectors can cover several doors and windows. Mount with screws because the tape lets loose and you get an alarm.

Get the monitoring, ir’s cheaper than a furnace.

I offer it to the new res for $20 per month.
