Another group of deadbeats slipped through the pre-screen.

I take cash or checks for application fees. I got n application yesterday from HER and HE wrote out a check for her because SHE was living in the unit.

Ok, fine. He scribbled out his address on the check. Weird. Why?

I searched their names on PA's eviction site and they both have been evicted together twice totaling close to $5,000 in judgements and set out.

He didn't turn in an app.

I called the bank this morning on a whim to see if there was money to cover the check. Nope. Haha. Not surprised. Bouncing a $20 check.

Sometimes they get through pre-screens. Stay vigilant my friends.

I may call the bank back and see if the account is open or closed. If it's closed, maybe I'll just have the police pay him a little visit.

Side note- I've taken countless checks for app fees and will continue.

Never an issue before and never felt uncomfortable taking one. The weird thing about this one was he crossed out his address on the top with a sharpie. Very strange. --50.107.xxx.xxx

In GA you can't go after anyone for a bad application check. I tried. Talked with judge and was told-- it was an application - no merchandise changed hands. Per judge "imagine putting something on lay away at Walmart" and you used a check and it bounces. The store still has the item so noting was taken nor given".

Perhaps it's just me, but I never take checks for rent, app fees or SD's. I accept cash only. The one time I departed from that, a tenant gave me a check that bounced three weeks out. Never again. Cash only. No nonsense with cash, no clawback no nothing. --207.172.xx.xxx

A lot of my current reading is about getting the gut check out of your system. It turns out we have poorly attuned intensities. So we are trying to just get let the rules run their course. --92.221.xxx.xxx

NE,

What website are you searching for PA evictions?

It's included with my reports but as RB says...

What did your "gut" have to do with that?? HA!

If someone ELSE is writing the check for your applicant -- and they scribble out their address so that you can't see it -- that isn't your "gut". That's a blatant and obvious red flag. :)

That's a lot different from "trusting your gut." :)

That's a bit like going "I ran a credit check and it came back with a score of 400 and dozens of evictions, so I TRUSTED MY GUT and didn't take them." ;)
