My second FAX machine quit, I guess from boredom...

Now, if I need to fax something (maybe once a year), I go to office depot and pay a couple of bucks. --99.59.x.xxx

You can now purchase a decent all-in-one copier/scanner/fax/printer machines for about $100 to $200.

I use a Canon myself. --50.45.xxx.xxx

I don't have a landline. I use a free online fax service on those rare occasions I have to fax something. Or sign up for a month and then cancel (efax.) Google "free online fax." --50.82.xxx.xx

I get rid of a Fax machine because it is not useful and take up space. I am looking for online fax service now just in case.

I stopped accepting or sending faxes to applicants. I will not accept a smart phone picture of a document sent to me. They have to scan it into a PDF file and then e-mail it to me. --47.156.xx.xx

Trustfax

Many apartment complexes in my area will only accept and return reference requests via fax so it’s a necessity for me if I want to check references. --107.77.xxx.xx

Razorback, that is the reason I want to use Fax too. I searched online "MyFax" can send 2 fax free per day. That is more than enough if that is true --97.91.xxx.xxx

I use eFax, but I have that set up mainly for my accounting practice. I rarely get faxes for the rental business but when I do need to send or receive for the rental business, I use eFax. --207.172.xx.xxx

Not sure on amount. They have many options to increase the amount of free faxes. They've served me well and they are very efficient and effective. --174.194.xx.xxx

A fax? Why not a Telex? Or go all the way and send a cablegram?

Last year, I bought a rental house and financed it. I did not handle a single piece of paper, much less fax one, during the entire process until closing day. --68.156.xx.xx

You can get a scanner app for your phone. It takes a pic, then converts it to a .pdf. Email from there. It's not the greatest quality compared to an actual scanner, but it's very readable. My lawyer accepts it for the PoQ notices, so it's really not that bad.

To have a printer/scanner/copy/fax in one is great, but they take a landline. Haven't had a landline since somewhere around '05. --98.175.xxx.xxx

Pamfax. You can set it up so that you have your own personal fax number for receiving faxes and it emails you when one has been received, then you go online and view it as a PDF. No need for a phone line or a machine. It sends faxes as well and the quality is good. I don't use it a huge number of times but when I do use it the service can be a lifesaver. There are just some things for which a fax makes a difference. There are still some tenants who want to fax things to you. When I was suing a tenant in small claims their hired gun paralegal wanted to serve her nonsense defence documents by fax. --70.30.xx.xxx

I have an all in one printer and had a separate fax number for years. It was terrible. I use hellofax but there is a monthly charge.

You might want to try gotfreefax. You can send 2 free 3 page faxes/day. If you need more they charge for "page" credits which never expire at 1 cent/page. Beats any office supply or faxing service.

If you have a printer that scans then scan to pc and email rather than fax.

Efax. It's free to receive faxes and you get a free fax phone number; they email you the fax when someone fax's you. If I ever need to send a fax, I use a free online fax service noted in other comments ...which is very rare. I have my fax number on my rental application, it's about the only time I use a fax. --73.230.xxx.xx
