State Specific Question About: PENNSYLVANIA (PA)
when an active military tenant is deployed, or otherwise required to vacate a lease agreement due to military obligations - is a PA landlord required to terminate the lease upon deployment/relocation and without recourse?
If so, what should LL require during the application process to determine eligibility for military status?
Thank you --73.187.xxx.xx |

The Servicemen's Civil Relief Act (SCRA) is federal law. You have to follow it whether it's in your lease or not. But it is not unreasonable. The tenant still has to give 30 days notice from the first of the month.

You have the right to request a copy of his orders, confirming that what he says is actually true (and he's not just moving to the next town with his girlfriend).
If the orders are genuine, then you must let him move on. --71.175.xxx.xxx |

SCRA is a Federal law but most states have their own set of regulations which can be more stringent that the Fed's.. You need to check those out since they will be the rules you need to follow. --71.75.xx.xx |
