WMH, what do you think your odds are on getting that $250 for every dog?
I highly doubt I would get that here, but what could I get???
I ask, because when I get people who accept units with the pet fees, they never have an issue with the cost. $25 for a cat, $30 for a dog under 40 lbs and $40 for a dog over 40 lbs per month with a limit of 2.
Could I get $150 x 12 month puppy fee?
Could I crank it up to $40 per cat, $60 per dog under 40 lbs and $75 for dog over 40lb?
I would think a dog 50 lbs or more would eat $50 alone in food each month. Idk, I don't have a dog, but if they eat $50 in food alone, then a $75 monthly fee is nothing. --174.201.xx.xxx |

NO way could I get $250 per month on a regular basis. Most people simply can't afford it and they would continually be looking for another, cheaper place. This was a total fluke. --50.82.xxx.xx |

I regularly get $35 for pets, on rents under $500 per month. My daughter in StL pays $75. --64.251.xxx.xxx |

NE,I just asked my wife what our dogs cost monthly,160 pound ST Bernard and a 60 pound Golden Retriever and she said $150 for food, plus treats and toys plus veterinarian, the expenses dont end.I charge $25 per month per pet and nothing up front,my market they don't have the upfront cost so I stopped asking for that and the good tenants with animals don't seem to mind paying for the pets as opposed to the dirtbags seemed to get upset about it when they were told so maybe it helps with screening.Maybe I need to start charging more monthly --72.231.xxx.xxx |

We charge a $250 NON REFUNDABLE Pet FEE; it weeds out a lot of those who are NOT responsible pet owners. If they love their pooch, they will pony up.
We have tried "pet rent" and we have tried refundable deposits with pets, but the best one for us has been the NON REFUNDABLE Pet FEE. We get to keep it when they leave, and if the place has damage, it certainly helps. If it does not have any damage, it is a bonus! --104.152.xx.xx |

We charge $150 nonrefundable pet fee up front PLUS $25/m per pet. We also screen all pets, just like we screen people (well we don't run a credit check on them).
We require the name of the pets local vet plus vaccination records. That screens out many of the irresponsible owners.
We cater to the military. They sometimes pay a couple thousand to move their sweet dog from one continent to another. They don't bat an eyelash at our pet fees.
Maybe we should charge more. --98.122.x.xx |

I can't help but think that a non refundable pet fee would translate to the tenant as "I am going get my money's worth" out of this fee".
I suppose Brad's "5 minute home inspection" would be in order. --68.60.xxx.xx |

NE, I don't know if you'd wind up getting any more money for pets, but I do know one thing...
...If you jack up the fees like that you'll definitely start getting a lot more ESA folks coming around. --50.45.xxx.xxx |

I charge a non refundable $100 per pet, max 2, and 25/mo pet rent. And I screen, meet the pet, and don’t allow certain breeds, per homeowners insurance.
Talking about fees, I have noticed the large apt communities here charge lots of extra fees. Like trash pick up, pet fees, lease signing fee (doc prep), extra package delivery space. I think it’s quite a profit center for them. --107.2.xxx.xx |

We charge $25 a month pet fee.... the problem we have is the “mom and pop” landlords don’t charge anything... --24.231.xxx.xx |

I read a forum post here several years ago that had the point of pet fee pricing about right.
I would rather have no pets, but, for an additional $x in registration fees and $x per month, I am willing to accept pets.
With that thought in mind, if every pet owner pays your asking price for pet fees, then you are priced too low.
I don’t think that having bargain priced pet fees is a good place to be in the market. --72.172.xxx.xx |
