Following torrential rain yesterday I noticed about two feet of water accumulated in the window well behind the house.
I put in a new window well cover and nailed it down. This morning I noticed the water has receded by about two inches. T
The flooring of the window well is concrete and so it's not draining I think.
What should I do? Just leave it to dry or bail it out with a bucket which won't be pleasant as it's full of gunk and mud.
Your thoughts please. The water is not entering basement which is a good news. Will it evaporate and dry on it's own? Any mold issues?
Thanks.

Get a drill pump and pump it out. Once you have the rain guard on it after it's dry, you should be good.
You must've done a good job installing that Window! --50.107.xxx.xxx |

This is something I have noticed happens when the gutters are plugged or the downspout extensions are not on. --184.102.xx.xxx |

You need to get the water out. Yup, unpleasant, pay someone if you can't handle it. Leaving it there is only inviting more problems. Then you need to find out how it got in there if the cover is on, leaking somewhere? or why it is not draining, plugged drain? Fix it, monitor it next rain. Repeat if needed. --96.236.xx.xx |

Rain was blowing straight line from the NE here and came around the glass panes on that side on my enclosed porch and wet the sills and floor. That may be what happened to the well. Is it on the NE side? Maybe blew against the house and also overtopped the gutters and ran in along the house. I would get it out with a bucket since the gunk will clog a pump. --69.141.xxx.xxx |

Ridgid has a wet/dry shop vacuum that you can buy an external pump to empty the vacuum's tank. With floor tools you can push the mud in a pile while vacuuming up the water. Once your tank is full, even if you are down in a basement, the pump will empty the vacuum tank even if the rise is 30 feet. --47.156.xx.xx |
