Has anyone tried installing combination locks on their units? This would eliminate the need to replace locks, and it would help service providers enter and leave without having to meet them.

Any views on the pros and cons?

Thanks. --68.84.xxx.xxx

we always change locks between Residents and don't use any type combination locks. With the SFH's there could be as many as 6 locks.

While a home is vacant we use the push button lock to keep key in while empty. Keep it there the whole time until rented. Lock loops around the door knob or in some instances if we don't want it to be seen from street we put it on gas line at meter. --99.103.xxx.xxx

Take a look at Lockstate. I've mentioned this before. I'm enthusiastic about this because I use this on all my exterior door locks at home. It's great and very convenient. My only complaint is the trade off between amount of times it wakes up to contact Network vs battery life. But that's the same with all battery operated locks of this type. However batteries do last 3-5 months.

With LockState, you can change locks by phone or website without having to visit the lock. You can also unlock it remotely for visitors or create a passcode that only works for one day.

Only issue is that it requires wifi. --108.69.xxx.xxx

I use combo lockboxes for showings and for the convenience of contractors on empty houses. Love em! --24.233.xxx.xx
