Aside from normal screening outlets like the one provided by Transunion, is there a free way to perform a statewide civil court search on an applicant in Virginia?
The only way I can currently check the civil case records is to go to the VA courts website, but I can only check one jurisdiction at a time. It's slow, inefficient, and leaves a lot of room for error.
I'd like to check the court records before applying their funds toward a paid service, because if they have a prior civil judgement, their screening is over and their application fee is money in the bank. --174.226.xx.xxx |

Oh boy, that's alot of work. In your case i'd hire a company to screen. Perhaps someone knows from your state. Hopefully they will come along soon with their method. Make sure you do a home visit and ask to see a copy of their current lease if they are moving from another rental. --99.203.xx.xxx |

I haven't figured out a better free way. The only thing I can suggest is ask for their photo ID and copy of utility bill to help narrow your search. --68.107.xxx.x |

I agree it does take a lot of time to go county by county, or city by city. And you best be sure you have the correct name as a woman can be married or been sued by a different name. I'm amazed at how girls pick up and drop names as they do BF's. Good idea to look at drivers license to get legal name. Even spelling of name can throw you off, ask me how I know? Once took a tenant by the name of Ayers & I had looked up by spelling Ayres and you guessed it, he had an unlawful detainer by name I didn't check! Oh well, experience is the best teacher. --71.51.xxx.xxx |
