Carlo Maria Cipolla, an economic historian, is famous for "The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity" He viewed stupid people as a group, more powerful by far than major organizations such as the Mafia and the industrial complex, which without regulations, leaders or manifesto nonetheless manages to operate to great effect and with incredible coordination.

These are his five fundamental laws of stupidity:

1. Always and inevitably each of us underestimates the number

of stupid individuals in circulation. [WMH NOTE: This is why we LL come here to vent, we cannot BELIEVE the stupid people we run into!]

2. The probability that a given person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic possessed by that person. [WMH NOTE: Credit check, criminal check, etc. and still we get bad tenants.]

3. A person is stupid if they cause damage to another person or group of people without experiencing personal gain, or even worse causing damage to themselves in the process. [WMH NOTE: Is this not the very definition of a bad tenant?]

4. Non-stupid people always underestimate the harmful potential of stupid people; they constantly forget that at any time anywhere, and in any circumstance, dealing with or associating themselves with stupid individuals invariably constitutes a costly error. [WMH Note: Self-explanatory.]

For some people life is a circus and their the clown...

Drug Addiction! Smoking Addition! Food Addiction! ___________ Addiction! Think of the people that smoked in your units over the time you owned your units. What does a pack of cigs a day cost and over 365 days, over 10 years??? Thats a ton of money???

You can apply the costs to any addiction as well and add in the health risks.

However the person is SOOO addicted to the nicotine that they need their fix. I don't understand it due to the health risks. Are they addicted or are they stupid???

WHY do we continue to vote the same people in term after term after term. We have the BEST method of getting people in and out of an elected public office in the world. However only 50% are registered and only 50% of them vote??????

We have all made bad decision on things in our lives HOWEVER we learn from stupid mistakes. Bad real estate investments? Bad Marriage??? Bad relationship choices? Bad Job choice??? Bad Judgement!! Bad tenant choices!!! ETC!!!

Does that mean we are stupid, possibly we made a Stupid mistake. And learned from it not to make the same mistake again.

I.N.S.A.N.I.T.Y is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome!!!!

Some people you wonder how they put one foot in front of the other. BUT some people don't want the responsibility of owning so they rent. Do they make the best decision I don't know, I do know it's pays my mortgage and my investment continues to increase in value. Tenants investment in a paper lease has zero Value and Zero increase.

$1,000 a month rent, 12,000 yearly rental, $120,000 for 10 years. Yes thats stupid to throw out that kind of money. But people do not want to deal with or don't know how to deal with rentals. IF the rental BIZ was easy everyone would be in the business. It's NOT an easy business. The monthly decreasing of debt and increasing the value of my investment and bank account is an excellent motivation.

NE of PA and Ken of NY and others that buy bank foreclosure are making money and each time they walk into a bank foreclosure they purchased they have no clue what is behind the door. BUT they walk in and make lemon aide out of a lemons. Was the person stupid who lost the house to foreclosure, did they make a stupid mistake? MAYBE!!! What I think is stupid is when they damage the house to get back at the bank and the house did NOT cause their financial problems. The mirror that they just damaged they need to take a hard look at who's the one that caused the problems. AND it was not the structure thats behind them in the mirror.

The mind/brain is a fascinating organ of the body. Our abilities that we are capable of doing is endless and fear and a negative mindset will hamper our ability to move forward on any and all issues. When we think outside the box WOW the opportunities are endless. Have we used our minds to the fullest when we still have more to offer.

The main thing that will get in your way the most is YOU. SO make today the day you get out of your own way and make it happen. Updating your rental!!! Increasing Rents! Evict today! Post the 24hour notice to enter your rentals, today! Buy your next rental or your first rental!!! Chose the right tenant. If need be evict the Stupid tenant for his or her bad decisions!!!

#2 rings true for me. I had a stable couple apply. Hubby had a great job, landlord references were stellar, both went to college and graduated (BS & MS). Terrific credit. Good-natured and polite.

The world has become too safe for stupid people. In the old days, they usually fell victim to Darwin's Laws of Survival, but now, we have safety warnings on lawnmowers telling stupid people to not stick their hands in a lawnmower, on the hairdryer to keep it away from water, etc. We should remove all warning labels and let nature take it's course.
