Some of them may be helping with the awful property tax. We need an income tax and to get rid of the property tax. Imagine having to heat all those municipal and government buildings up north here and we are paying for it. --73.33.xxx.xxx |

The cost of living here is much higher then most places in the Us. Gasoline, food, taxes, consumer goods, vehicles, houses, rent are generally higher. Gasoline for example costs around $1.20 per liter when times by 4 approximately the Us gallon. Although there is universal medical care, limited pharmacy for some age groups. There never was a crash in housing prices here where some major urban areas the price of houses is from half million and more. Now the federal government is talking about a carbon where the cost of gasoline, fuel oil, natural gas is going to cost more where they say it is revenue neutral. Really. This country is not as left as Europe nor like other countries just between the two. Finally there is strict gun control where assault rifles are illegal along with carrying a hand gun.

Sorry Ally but replacing 1 tax with another tax NEVER reduces taxes. Ask CT residents how that worked for them. Low taxes are only a direct result of LOW SPENDING. --24.34.xx.xxx |

I agree with nhsailmaker, you go asking for a state tax they will give it to you but they won't hear the part about lowering or getting rid of the property tax. --72.231.xxx.xxx |

I sold a simple row home from the 1920's to someone in NJ. When I mentioned the price on the place, he asked me if it was condemned. I said no, but it is basically functional obsolete and would not appreciate. He ran his number and then asked me if it was a scam. For $30,000 he has been getting $6,500 annually for a few years now.
He routinely calls looking for more deals and lets me know that he pays $15,000 in property tax on his NJ home. --24.101.xxx.xxx |
