I was looking for a padlock to be used at a dumpster. The waste management company provided a regular one and it got lost. How come they don't think about the possibility of some lazy tenants decided to take it or throw it away.

I am looking for one that can be locked to a chain. Lock/Chain the padlock to the dumpster chain.. You can weld it or get one that has a hole or chain.

I bumped into a Navy website that listed a medeco padlock with a chain. I couldn't believe the price tag.. $1,859. From outside, It looks like a regular padlock...

I think the Medeco has layers and layers of metal welded together and can't be cut somehow. Why don't you ask the dumpster people to give you another lock? --73.33.xxx.xxx

DoD compliancy costs a fortune.

If you want to spend real money try using a GSA container as a file cabinet instead of going to Staples. --98.229.xxx.xx

That Medeco is awesome if you have high value secrets you need to lock up. Probably a little overkill for a dumpster.

I think you are looking for a shackle collar. These attach to the shackle and are usually installed by riveting to a standard over the counter lock.

Elliot,

Was that lock listed next to the $600 hammers?

I suggest Ernie's iCore padlocks. He has 2 types and lots of different length shackles.

I LOVE them because they are

-tough

-use the same cylinder as our deadbolts

-same master key as all my houses!

DUCT TAPE ! - my grandson gave me a Christmas present super wrapped in duct tape. I made him promise me to get me a sports car so he bought a Tonka toy and wrapped it the size of a soft ball - Took forever with a razor knife to cut it all away. No tenant is that industrious --24.34.xx.xxx
