I bought a place in 2017 that had a shed in the back yard that didn't get cleaned out. So the house came with a push mower.......but the best find from the place was a classic game from my youth - YARD DARTS
So I need to ask everyone, what was the best find (non- real estate related) of 2017

Nothing too memorable over here. A few years ago, we founds some Liberty dollars in a new acquisition (little old lady passed away; left house to heir in CA; heir let house get repossessed for taxes.) But apart from that, nothing very interesting at all. --96.46.xxx.xx |

Wow- we loooved that game. They were pretty heavy for the wrists so we didnt play for long. My brother and I had a lovehate relationship back then, so it's a wonder we didn't attempt to kill each other out of sheer boredom. At least the tips were rounded!
Turnovers in 2017 netted nothing out of the ordinary. Except broken junk. Never in short supply. --136.32.xxx.xxx |

My great find of 2017 was a regular 30 year old toilet... lol. Picked it up off the side of the street. I hate the new low flow toilets, not enough water gets flushed to push the contents down old cast iron pipes. The old toilets use lots of water to help the stuff flow all the to the city sewer --75.141.xxx.xxx |

Lots! We've found coins, silver, guns. The 3 unit last summer I bought, almost had a Porsche in the deal that was in the weeds. Owner decided to keep that though. Riding mower, the kitchen table and chairs that we had for years. Tons of Christmas wrapping paper. Jewelry. Plenty of empty above ground swimming pools.
I found and still have an uncut sheet of $1 bills. 3 wide by 6 high or 4x5, can't remember. Maybe $20 total. I hope to frame that and put it in my office once I get that finished. It's pretty neat.
I have a good hunting knife I got out of a house. My grill that just went bad last summer I had for 6-7 years from a house.
The house we found the guns in had a chemistry lab attached to it. (Not a meth lab, actual chemistry). They had TONS off cool things in there. Bubblers, beakers, a centrifuge, etc.. That one was cool.
Many of my pots, pans and cooking utensils came from houses.
Every time my wife says she wants a new ______, I tell her that these houses eventually provide everything. They usually do.
We haven't found a body buried behind a wall yet!!
On the darker side of humanity, I have found TONS of drugs and drug paraphernalia, pornography and it's associated parts! That stuff is almost ALWAYS present in the really bad foreclosures. --50.32.xxx.xx |

2017 -> Loose change *everywhere* inside and outside a particular house. Roughly $40, mostly in pennies. Kids loved it...nonstop treasure hunt. Was the owner myopic? Unable to reach their toes? Did the change fairy pay a visit? No one will ever know. --74.139.xxx.xxx |

No purchases or turnovers in 2017, but we've had some fun finds over the years.
My favorite was the tenants who moved over New Year's a few years back. Dead of winter, lots of snow. Wife took the kids to visit grandparents down south, hubby was stuck trying to clean out. He called me at 3 PM on 12/31 and offered to pay us an extra $200 if he could hold over 24 hours, and if we also agreed to clean 5-6 large boxes out of the garage. We knew his character and honesty, and agreed.
The place was very clean, and there was almost zero junk in those boxes. After keeping some of the cleaning supplies for the rental, we had a ton of fun with the mostly lightly used children's toys, bikes, and clothing that was left. I contacted our local Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group, and gave my email address along with a list of the items available.
Once people claimed stuff, I then made two windows of time during which they could meet at the house and pick up from me. I had a blast playing Santa, they got some nice stuff, and best yet, I had to move ZERO items. I think that in the end there was one garbage bag of stuff for the trash. --71.175.xxx.xxx |

Haven't had any turnovers for a few years but when I bought my daughter a home by the univ, the storage shed out back had old toys in pristine cond. Perfect rocking horse on springs, baby dolls AliM would die for, doll carriages w/o a scrape or nick, a tricycle with heavy rubber foot pedals and hand grips. No plastic on any of this.
And even older real baby items: carved wooden high chair w/a tray that swoops over he baby's head and lands in front as a food tray, crib w/turned spindles and 2 mattresses (old and new), a potty w/ceramic-covered steel bowel, etc.
I hauled all the stuff to an office white elephant sale and made over $1000. The money went toward defraying the cost of tickets to the annual Christmas dinner--an expensive affair. --108.87.xx.xxx |

Ray,
A 380 handgun after a drug bust. Police cleared it.
Polaroids of my res trying to be a pron star. Ugh!
I love old bottles and old keys.
Perfectly mummified cat in a dry crawl. Kids took it to their biology teacher.
Really nice chef's knife I use daily.
We take all the decent cookware, knick knacks, etc to the thrift store for a donation receipt.
I wish I had saved all the old fancy front doors we removed to "modernize". They were works of art.

I only keep tools ... the rest goes to donation. then I had TOO many tools. So I did a garage sale with the kids and bagged $385 in 4 hours. The BIG hit was 2 5 gallon buckets FULL of sockets: Craftsman and Snap-on mainly. Let them go for 50 cents each. And this was after my boys set themselves up with metric and standard sets (which included extended sockets) --72.227.xxx.xxx |
