I was thinking on putting up a 'No Trespassing' or one with the 'This property is protected by video surveillance' (although its not).

Has anyone put up similar signs. It just a precautios step.

Didn't know if it looked tacky or not --69.26.xxx.xxx

I have No Trespassing signs up on several of my buildings. According to the Police Officer who spoke at the Neighborhood Crime Watch meeting without the signs, the Police couldn't move loiterers along. Unless you actually have cameras, I wouldn't state that on the signs. --72.93.xxx.xxx

Yes, they look tacky. Just like "Beware of Dog" signs. Usually only seen in the hood or trailer parks.

Why don't you just actually install some security cameras? Doesn't cost much these days. --68.156.xx.xx

All my properties have "posted" signs on the property line, facing out. Of course all of them are on a couple of acres or more, and the fence does not encompass the whole property. One has a sign on the driveway right across from the entrance of the ice cream stand.

Funny thing is, so many people don't see these bright yellow signs (or chose not to see them) or don't think they apply to them. So not sure it will do anything anyway. I probably would not do it on a small suburban lot. But in the country it is what we do. --96.236.xx.xx

They are state subjective. Our office is surrounded by a big foot wrought iron fence and car gates. We have cameras and floodlights. We use both video warning and trespass signs and alarm warning signs.

It has made a big difference. We used to have problems with tweakers and vandals, I found drugs and needles in the parking lot several times. Once we started the security school and turned the factlity into Ft. Knox it stopped.

Up at our dam we had an issue where the cops wouldn't arrest a trespasser because they said the signs were too far apart, even though there is no specification in the law. Now there's one like every 25 feet.

As for tacky, I don't have no trespass signs on my house, but I do have the alarm signs. The walls and fences are legal notice in AZ to not trespass. Here residential trespass is a felony.

I did it because religious canvassers were going around every weekend bothering tenants. One tenant thought it looked hostile so I took it down. Current upstairs tenant had a panhandler at the door at night when her hubby wasn't home and actually requested a No Trespassing sign. It's up there. Not sure what the new folks downstairs will want. But it has to stay there because there is a problem with a young man on the next block who wanders around also asking for money. --73.33.xxx.xxx

I have a small sign for my truck that says -live bee nest on board-, more than half the time there is. --76.188.xxx.xx

A policeman once told me a No Trespassing sign is only valid if it's posted. So, before you trespass, rip the No Trespassing sign down. If you're really wanting to post signs, make sure they are within clear view INSIDE the window so the trespasser can't remove the sign. --108.69.xxx.xxx
