Whenever I'm cleaning out a house, I always pick up the pennies. My workers just sweep them up and throw them away. Many of my tenants move out leaving all kinds of change on the floor. Am I getting to be an old fogie and spare change isn't worth bending over for anymore?

Oh ya! We have contest to see who can find the most. So much fun. I find a penny and hold it up heaven and say "Thank you God for this symbol of abundance!"

A few years ago a newspaper did a test,..on a busy college campus they threw pennies around, almost no one picked them up. nickles a few did,..a dime more did but not most (of course you have to figure in that many did not notice)However they counted those that appeared to look or take a second look,..for a quarter, most did,...

I guess in the formula there might be the uncoolness of picking up small change,..

I had this talk with my secretary (young lady 30 yrs old )who said she didn't think she or any of her friends would ever pick up a penny on the street.

(BTW I was out with her and two of her friends a while ago,..none of them ever heard of Bob Hope,...or Johnie Carson)

Our family is very business orientated. we follow the rule "watch the penny's and the dollars will follow".

At a company I use to work at -- when hard times hit them -- the company was wasting man hours waiting for work to come in. We had meeting after meeting to get pep talks. Wasting pay and buying parts was the company's middle 2 names. At a meeting of the minds I wrote in prior to the Q&A pointing out spicific items. At the end of the question I put the penny's will follow quote and the head guy reads it and says "I have no idea what this means"

I typically save the coins when cleaning out a rental. It's amazing how much is thrown out. Had a hoarder a few years ago. My kids helped on that one. Told them any coins they found they could keep. They found a little over $20 each.

Guilty.

Temporary back troubles cured me of bending over for pennies. Not worth another trip to the chiropractor.

I leave the coins for the cleaning crew. They are thrilled to find $.56 in coins.

Reminds me of a joke about a super cheap LL:

Guy steps up to a urinal and sees a dime in it. Looks around, thinks, throws a quarter in and says "10 cents no, but 35..."

I found a great looking penny just this morning coming out of the lumber yard......while holding my complimentary doughnut.

I always laugh at the coins people leave behind, toe nail clippings, not so much!

My husband won a bicycle from selling newspapers back in the day, had his photo in the newspaper, that was great! He has always been a hard worker. He's 72 now.
