I would not do a glass top. They need frequent cleaning to keep from staining and they crack when a pot goes dry and is left on the stove(from personal experience). --152.131.x.xxx

I have glass top stoves in 18-20 houses. Been using them for at least 10 years, never had a problem with them getting broke, the only service I have had to do on any of my smooth top stove is one single oven element. They look nicer, and provide a bit of extra counter space. Yes, sometimes they get burnt on stuff and look bad, but some oven cleaner and a razor blade cleans them right up. --75.141.xxx.xxx

I have the glass tops in a couple places. I think they can help attract a higher quality tenant. I haven't had issues with them breaking, but they do get some burned on marks over time. --73.102.xxx.xx

A lot depends on the type of tenant. For a lower class of tenant would not recommend as the cost of glass top alone can easily be over $300.00 dollars. Bought some glass top stoves on the internet as here many houses are changing the stove to natural gas as a natural gas stove costs about a third to operate. Natural gas the burners do not case a lot of problems other then cleaning. If igniter in the oven goes it can be expensive to replace. A basic plug burner are the easiest to fix along the parts are very common. Since was able to make repairs to stoves it was better a used stove on the internet for $100 to $150 then toss out in three to five years as the stove is completely banged up where the stove was taken the metal recycling place. Generally tenants do not take good care of appliances so the life expectancy is a lot shorter then a owner occupied home. So a used appliance is expensed as the cost is below $300 dollars so the cost is not amortised for taxes. If appliances are provided then amortise the cost into the rent say three to five years so the appliance can be replaced once the tenant moves on.
