State Specific Question About: MAINE (ME)

I need to replace all apartment old ionization smoke alarms with new photoelectric hard wired battery back ups. What have you found is the brand and model no. of the least troublesome (i.e, false alarms, eats batteries) smoke alarm?

I do not want to consider any combination CO2 and smoke alarm, as I have all new well functioning plug in CO2 alarms properly located.

Also seems like any make or model has a few bad consumer reviews on Amazon.

I NEVER install a Combination Smoke and CO sensor. If it starts to chirp due to a weak back up battery, your tenant will disconnect it and forget to tell you for months -- during which time they could die due to smoke or fire. Not worth the RISK!

When I purchase a any new smoke detector or C0 sensor, I get the kind that has a 10 year built in lithium battery.. --47.156.xx.xx

I use kiddie brand.

I agree, I never use combo CO smoke alarms. I find the CO alarms very problematic and they can easily give a false reading, requiring them to be replaced. The combo CO smoke alarm s are very expensive. Its cheaper and easier to just relace a CO alarm. --70.48.xxx.xx

The photo type are the ones that make false alarms near shower or kitchen steam so the ionizer are the ones I use, BRK 9120B last package of 24 worked out to 18bux each - those are a/c with 9 volt rectangular battery drawer, anytime you go to a/c detectors you will instantly notice they are much louder than any battery only type, inspectors love this, the apprentice drops the broom handle they used to push the button. --76.188.xxx.xx

The best ones are the ones that have working batteries and/or are not unplugged. --73.230.xx.xx
