Pookie and I purchased a sweet sheriff sale house for a flip. paid $40k, we will put in $10k or less, and should turn around for $90k, minimum $75k

so I was replacing some old gas shutoffs and pulled the gas range.

i found a $20 bill behind it!

I felt kinda excited for a few seconds. Then laughed at myself. Out loud.

Really, gonna make $25k-$40k in a couple months and you get excited about an Andrew Jackson. Pookie got a chuckle as well.

Pookie and I went to lunch at a local cafe later that day. I saw my 4th grade teacher and his wife. As we left, we stopped over to say hello. Then we bought their lunch.

Best 30 bux I spent that day. Happy landlording and flipping!

Money is money.

We stripped out a hot water baseboard system this week in a small 2 bedroom. I ran to home depot yesterday and dropped the copper off at the recycling center on the way. They gave me $150! Haha. I was shocked.

Took 10 minutes to load and unload the truck.

Hey. $150 in 10 minutes X 6 = $900 an hour! --50.107.xxx.xxx

NE, the tin knocker/HVAC guy in me always scraps the copper. It does add up pretty quick and love buying lunch for the crews with it. --209.239.xxx.xxx

Ya Lee. That's mainly why we do it. I do have a bin in my tool shed for copper parts and wire that I toss in. It adds up quick.

$50 of this is sending my 3 year old daughter out with mommy to a peppermint manicure tea party for Christmas. Don't ask, I don't know..... haha. --50.107.xxx.xxx

I've got an old trap sitting somewhere. Wonder what that's worth? I love to put something up on Ebay and have it skyrocket into bigger money because two people want it. I pick up pennies in parking lots etc. I like them too. --73.33.xxx.xxx

Funny how our perception of money changes based on how much or little we have. I still get excited when I find a $20 or even a $5 unexpectedly.

It's God's money, so I try to be thoughtful any time I'm given some to manage. It may not mean much to me, but it could be 20 meals for someone who is a frugal home cooker or a person in a 3rd world country.

However, I do have a different attitude today vs. 20 years ago. Used to be if I was off $1 balancing my checkbook I'd go thru the whole month until I found it. Today I'll just round it to whatever the bank says and not worry about my sloppy math. --192.119.xxx.xx

Lee, another thing I do is check the silverware. I found a real silver fork and spoon before.

Even in one of DT's book, he talked about the importance of managing the small things. Kiyosaki even speaks about going through his coin op laundry quarters to remove the silver quarters when he was starting

out.

Management is management from the top to the

Bottom. --174.201.xx.x

I save all the change I find after a move out. Some even leave behind a jar full of coins. I check the gift cards too, but haven't gotten any of value yet. Found a few winning lottery tickets worth $1-2, but most are past the claim deadline.

If you buy the house cheap enough, the money you find inside can be a small percentage of the purchase price. --73.102.xxx.xx

Kyle, that's funny you say that. The 3 unit I got the copper scraps out of yesterday I bought for $3,500. (Not including back taxes.). The $150 for the copper is about 5% of the purchase price! --50.107.xxx.xxx

I was just thinking today about people who have that Alexa gizmo and just tell Alexa to buy something for them. I thought, "But they might not be getting a good price on those paper towels!" I guess that once a penny minder, always a penny minder.

Classy move to pay for your former teacher's lunch, Lee. I have upon occasion found money (never in a rental, alas), and will usually try to brighten someone else's day with it myself. --71.175.xxx.xxx
