I just called the Brockton Ma BOH and was informed that the staDard procedure for tenants if there is a problem in the apartment to call them first and not the LL. So that if the LL wants to be vindictive and evict the tenant it will be a problem.

Years ago I use to have a similar problem with 2 of the BOHs that I dealt with. I found that instead of calling I got much more cooperation when I went in person & brought a copy of the BOH move in inspection report. Once they realized that the unit was in excellent shape according to their own inspector, they became much more reasonable about listening to my side of the story. --72.93.xxx.xxx

The BOH inspector is very reasonable and knows the place is in great shape. The person I spoke to when the inspector was not in said it was SOP.

Now I know I have to document everything with this person.

But it is just aggravating to say the least when the tenant is not co-operating. --73.167.xxx.xx

I believe that our Housing Authority has started telling the Sec 8 residents that if they have problems in the unit to contact them before calling the owner/manager. We are seeing this a lot in the last few months. Don't understand why they are doing this. It would seem that it just makes things more complicated--inspection, letters to all involved etc. Not happy about this, but the tenants seem to enjoy this procedure. --24.233.xxx.xx

Most rental units are maintain to the minimum building and fire codes which means no loose plaster or paint along with no holes in the walls. No loose or missing tiles where the colour does have match. All receptacle, light switches must have covers. The roof can not leak along with all the heating and plumbing must work. Intervention is only necessary if the rental housing provider refuses to look at or repair. Most cities and towns have all the building, fire code on the internet where you can check what is required or get a copy at the city or town hall. --69.79.xxx.xxx

Sounds like someone likes attention, wants to be needed and is a control freak, at the Board of Health. Around here they don't want to be bothered with much though they did send a guy out right away when I called about the pit bull in the back tearing down my fence and that the yard was full of you know what. --73.33.xxx.xxx
