I have used Chase Quick Pay before successfully with one tenant. Both I and that tenant have Chase bank accounts.

My other tenants do not have Chase and I read that Chase is now using an app called Zelle to do transfers from non-Chase accounts.

There are a lot of complaints about Zelle online. Has anyone here used Zelle and what has your experience been?

I have been using it for years and have never had a problem. I no longer accept paper checks (except from one guy, and I charge him an extra $5). I only use PayPal, QuickPay, and the other electronic payment methods.

I don't think any of them are a good idea, though. I am looking for a better way. --174.51.xxx.xx

Thanks Jeff.

And the Zelle app has been working for you? There are stories of it freezing or not loading at all on the phone, on the internet. --72.188.xxx.xxx

I receive money from Zelle at Wells Fargo, I don't know it works from the sending end.

I also receive rents through PopMoney. Again, I don't send so no idea how that works.

I've received money through PayPal in the past, but I stopped accepting it because of their terms of service. I don't want to pay to accept money. --173.22.xx.xx

I never pay PayPal fees for rents - tenants use Friend and Family. --174.51.xxx.xx

I got the answer to my own question--called Zelle and they said if a back or credit union (of the tenant sending the money) is not in their network there are extra fees to do a transaction over $500 so it would not be worth it to use the Zelle app.

Since a lot of tenants use small credit unions or banks this doesn't really sound like it would work. --72.188.xxx.xxx

Jeff, I put this on the other thread too:

When tenants are sending you rent each month, it's not because you are Family OR a Friend, and I didn't want any pushback from PayPal after their new rules came out.

Family & Friends is free. Accepting payments for business, there is a fee charge to the merchant (me.) --173.22.xx.xx

I found Zelle to be painful. Weird delays in transferring funds. Phone app gives cryptic error messages. My favorite; when I tried to hook it up to my business debit, it fails..call support, told Zelle doesn't support business debits, only personal debits. What the hell Chase.

You can get money transferred, but it's a pain. Not sure why Chase would use it, it's a tire fire. --107.77.xxx.xx

Two tenants have been using it just this year. So far, so good. There was one instance when the tenant said they sent, but it wasn't working..(dog ate my homework, checks in the mail,) ..they were paying the late fee anyway, so one or two extra days. --70.92.xxx.xxx
