Just seen a Rich Dad workshop would be coming to a couple of cities in Kansas.

Thought about inviting college age daughter to attend with me.

Any thoughts? --174.70.xxx.xxx

We went to one this past summer. TOTAL waste of time! The presenter was some idiot who kept giving us his LONG version of how awesome he (and his family) is...and that's all, folks!

No meat, no potatoes, just how totally terrific this dude was...

Nothing more than a "buy my next seminar" workshop.

I regretted going.

I am all for you both going. No matter how terrible the seminar may be (and I don't know if it will be) there will be something positive to gain. Even if it just bonding with your daughter.

Is this the same guy who wrote "Rich dad, poor dad"? My son in law read this book and then gave it to me. We had some good discussions over the book. --68.107.xxx.x

I would find a different venue to introduce her to RE. The travelling shows are a joke. Went to one a few years ago and the whole thing was a puffed up infomercial.. next to no content.. slick salespersons in the room looking for the marks... there's a lot of ways to learn this business for a lot less money... I'm not saying you shouldn't spend money to learn... but the 30k or so for their program is a bit heavy --173.24.xxx.xx

Summary of everything I've ever read from Robert Kyosaki's books...

"Buy appreciating assets."

"Worker smarter, not harder."

"Own your own business."

"Don't work for money, let your money work for you."

And several other phrases that have become business/investing cliche's over the past 20 years.

I've never been to one of his events. My understanding is the courses are lifted from the books...and the books, while continually cited as highly "motivational" among many in the REI sphere, are light on content and heavy on fictionalized accounts of "conversations" Robert had with his "Rich Dad" vs. his poor dad (biological father).

If motivation is what you need, I'd spend $15-$20 and buy the collected audio works of Zig Ziglar on Amazon. --173.19.xx.xxx

I took my 3 kids to one a while back. It was about "Buy more classes", but also included good, thought-provoking information about the value of investing in real estate. 2 of the 3 were intrigued & seemed to "get it". Then we went to eat and had a good conversation. So I think it was worthwhile, but I'm sure some presentations are better than others. --68.105.xxx.xxx

Robert Kyosaki certainly has his issues, and the seminars are giant up sells.

But I first read Rich Dad Poor Dad when I was 11 and it was one of the formative books that got me interested in real estate investing.
